That is Saban's side of the story. First of all, team doctors can pass someone with a torn ACL and fail someone for a cold if they want to. There was no way that a doctor was going to clear either Brees or Culpepper at the point they were at with their injuries. I didn't think it was a team doctor decision either, Saban went on the advice of Dr. Andrews who said Culpepper had a better shot at starting training camp healthy than Brees. So yea, he chose Culpepper over Brees.

LSU fans need to get over Saban, I'm a LSU and Dolphin fan and I think some of these Saban posts are pathetic.

My fellow LSU fans often embarrass me. I'm just glad I'm not a Saints fan.

Will never happen as long as he is coaching for Bama.

Why does this story pop up every so often? This is old arse news. Brees talked about this before the Super Bowl. One of the reasons he came to NOLA was becasue Saban said "We'll see how the physical goes" (paraphrasing) and SP pitched him on the whole city and acted like he wanted him.

He's softened to the point that he is "relieved" to win and not able to enjoy success.

Saban is all about Saban....and that works for him. He's a winner and Bama is lucky to have him. Enjoy the ride.

I'm sensing a large amount of LSU fans haven't gotten over Saban yet.... This is news because it was mentioned on the Dan Lebatard show yesterday and their is rampant speculation as to why now of all times does Saban discuss it after being silent on it for years and letting people assume he made final decision on Culpepper/Brees

The Brees / saban duo would have been AMAZING.

Brees is better with SP than he would have been with NS, NS left for college with the first sign of adversity.

but the tornado definitely changed him as a person. Other fans that don't follow Alabama daily probably can't tell, but I think post-2011 Saban is a lot softer than the pre-tornado Saban.

Can some one post the GIF of him smacking his player on the arse over and over again during one of his sideline bitch fits?

This occurred in 2010.

Saban obviously still gets irritated at times, but I think he enjoys life more now.

Brees said he had a phone call with Saban where he was told there were problems with his physical. Saban told him the Dolphins still wanted him, but at a lower price than the initial contract offer.

According to Brees' book, he turned the Dolphins down in the phone call and immediately called his agent to make a deal with the Saints.

The ones that failed the most in this whole thing are the dolphins' medical staff.
