I got a backorder notice from Botach today for the 3 pack of PMAGS I ordered last week. Replied telling them to cancel the order and that I'd never do business with with them again.

Just checked my email. Backordered

I'm going to keep the backorder though since $15 each for a pmag is pre-panic price. Its not like I'll be losing out if they eventually ship

I am a big fan of the ville. Planned on moving there when kids came into the picture but might jump the gun by a few years, ha.

Not seeing a ton of engineering stuff there though. Might just look in Nola and commute.

Wish I would have waited and picked up that 18" upper. I have half that in just my Rock Creek SPR barrel.

I am wondering about that one and the DD I just purchased from them, I think the DD still has a complete front sight post, while this one doesnt. Not an incredibly difficult fix, but still

Now I am looking at the specs and I think I did well. That barrel is twice as thick as standard mil-spec, so its likely much heavier, and the Yankee Hill handguards are a whopping 21.44 oz. The Fortis rail I am putting on the DD is 9 oz, while the DD Lite rail it comes with is 11oz.
Add all that and that its a rifle length gas system, I think I am better off with the DD.

You carrying it anywhere? Why the worry about weight? I carried my bolt gun which is a beast hunting. It wasnt as bad as most make it out to be.

Just personal preference. If I wanted a heavy AR I would go for an AR-10 and a heavier, harder hitting round. Weight is one of the biggest reasons that we are all using the 5.56 instead of the 7.62 anyway. I do plan on training with this weapon some day, and if I ever need to carry it, weight isn't something I want to be concerned with.

Add that with knowing the SO is going to be the one that enjoys shooting this one the most, weight becomes even more of a factor.

Anyone familiar with Wheeler Engineering products? Bout to embark on my first upper build and i scored this LINK . I dont know if its a brand new product or what, cant really find any reviews on it. But it seems well made and was a great price for a multi tool and torque wrench combo.
