Good nominations overall. Happy to see the love for Argo and Silver Linings, two of my favorites from what I've seen. The Django nominations are a nice surprise after the SAG shut it out yesterday. My biggest surprise is the lack of Les Miserables for best director and screenplay. I thought for sure the Foreign Press would go crazy for this movie and give it the most nominations.

Best Picture
Is Life of Pi THAT good? I would imagine Django is a lock. I also imagin RollTide coming in the thread and getting scientific about these nominations.

Best Director
Exact sam as best picture but different order

Best Actor
DDL will probably win but I would love if Juaqin Pheonix took it home. Surprised Anthony Hopkins isn't getting any love for Hitchcock.

Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical
Back Black! Doubt he'll win but that is awesome. Love me some Jack Black.

Best Actress for a Comedy
I'll probably start stalking Jennifer Lawrence. I'm just kidding I alread am. Winters Bone ftw.

Best Supporting Actor
Deepest field of all of the IMO. Wow that's a nice group of actors. Hopefully, hopefully Leonardo will start getting some respect at these award shows this year.

Best Animated Foreign Film
I love me some foreign film. Typically just as deep as as best film just nobody's heard of the, %50 of the time.

Best Animated Feature Film
It's sad that I haven't seen Brave.

All that being said, I hate award shows. For some reason I watch them though and care about who they nominated but not who wins. The Goldem Globes aren't as bad but the Acadey plays favorites every year and it's clear. That rhymed. People put too much stock in this crap. Two things happen: They win YAY or they lose WTF. Who cares if they won or lost its determined by a bunch of jerk faces. God forbid a popcorn flick get a nomination every now and then. Let me stop this rant, it could get worse. Maybe I'm alone this but my opinion is right

You know me too well. The only thing I will say for now is it looks like Meryl Streep can play a pile of dog shite and still get nominated for a Golden Globe. Also...Lincoln, my #1 film thus far this year, leads the way with 7 Golden Globe nominations.

As for Django Unchained, I wouldn't call it a lock just yet because the Hollywood Foreign Press - the people who oversee the Golden Globes - have absolutely nothing to do with the Oscars. BUT...its chances were resurrected today after SAG snubbed them yesterday. I can't wait to see Django though. The film looks funny and it deals with a historical time period that I'm interested in.

The reviews for Les Miserables have failed to pick up on RT and MC so I'm wondering if its momentum is starting to falter a bit. There's no doubt in my mind that Hathaway will be nominated and I'm pretty sure Les Miz will get a Best Picture nomination. But if the reviews really don't start improving you could see Hooper shut out of the Best Director race and all but killing the film's chances of winning Best Picture.

With the mixed reviews I never thought Les Mis was much of a threat at the Oscars (other than Hathaway) but the epic musical genre made me think the Foreign Press would love it like they did Chicago and Moulin Rouge.

I haven't seen enough movies this year to comment on those nominations yet. I did think Argo was great.

As far as the tv nominations go, how did they leave off the following people/shows:

Best Drama:
Game of Thrones
(Newsroom was horrible on so many levels. For it to be nominated instead of GOT is a travesty. This season of Dexter deserves to be nominated way ahead of Newsroom)

Supporting Actress:
Gretchen Mol - Boardwalk Empire
Yvonne Strahovski - Dexter
I also think Lena Headey for GOT deserves to be nominated ahead of Hayden Panetiierrerierierree and Sofia Vergara

Supporting Actor:
Peter Dinklage - Game of Thrones
Bobby Cannavale - Boardwalk Empire
(Glad to see Mandy Patinkin get nominated)

Kind of shocked that Mad Men didn't even get a nom. Not as good as previous seasons but still better than almost everything else on TV.

It also upsets me that Community constantly gets snubbed for everything every year.
