We know this. Her point is it is still country music. Whether it's good or bad. Right or wrong. Whether you like it or not. It is country music of the year 2012. Fact.

It's pop music.

It is not country music in the least bit.

If you have to tell someone you're "country" in a song, you aren't country.

I'm glad you are entitled to your opinion even though it's wrong. You just can't accept the fact that just because you don't like the music it's not country.

It's country music. They are called country radio stations. There is the Country Music Association. It's who plays on the Opry.

One day you'll come around and realize that all music changes over time whether for the good or bad. I'm glad artists today don't make the same music that was made in the 70s. If I want to listen to Waylon, I'll put in one of his records.

ETA: You still haven't defined country music. You can't even tell me what it is.

Neither can you. But what I do know is that organizations radio stations and record execs damn sure don't define it.

It's what is played on the radio, given awards at award shows, etc. Clearly that's not all inclusive but that is part of country. It's also the Texas country that doesn't get as much exposure.

Rascall Flatts are one of the worst bands in the history of all music. But as much as it pains me to say it, they are part of country music. If I'm not mistaken one of them is on the board of the CMA's.

It's like comparing flag football and the nfl sure they both are football but the real thing offers a little more substance.

I would say a more accurate comparison is the SEC vs the Big 10. Yea some of it sucks. But it's all football.

Wearing cowboy boots and singing about tractors doesn't make you a country artist.

Sticking feathers up your arse doesn't make you a chicken

Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it isn't what it is.

You don't like modern country music. No problem. I'm not a fan for the most part either. But I will admit it's still country music.

Did Hayes himself write that song? I know it's off the topic of this thread, but it comes up on my Pandora a lot and I keep forgetting to stop and check to see who actually wrote it.

Well hell, I am country and didn't know it.

By the definition of the self proclaimed music experts on this board, probably 75% of historical country music that has been played on country stations "isn't country."
