Totally twinzies

It is quite lovely watching them spread their little wings bumping into the walls and landing on coke cans. They just need to be careful not to run into the ceiling fan (me). If us know what I'm saying, and I think you do.

True. I just walk into bars and slap the shite out of little punk bitches like them to start my night off. I have to show who the alpha male is and they are usually the victims. Bitches love that shite.

I guess what I'm really trying to say is they spread their butt cheeks for each other lol hehe haheha

Ya know?

re: Your favorite aspect about BR?

Cities that are cool because the people of the city place a value on those things that make the place cool, so the end result is seen as cool and valued to the person visiting or moving there. That is an effect, not the cause of it.

Baton Rouge could be cool almost overnight if it chose to go that route, but as long as Baton Rouge is content to value one thing and one thing only, namely LSU football, and hang its hat on it, then it's going to be Baton Rouge, and the only thing cool about Baton Rouge is going to be LSU. It's a cause and effect. The people place a super high importance on LSU and so LSU is the cool thing about Baton Rouge. That's a no brainier.

However, let me give you a hypothetical. What if the young people graduating college decided to instead of moving out to P'ville and DS, start buying up real estate in and around the downtown and mid city, as is the trend in many other areas of this country right now, stopped investing in chains and instead started to place a high demand on great food, nightlife, art, music, etc, and started to flock to downtown at night and on the weekends? Would not BR make a sudden and abrupt change in direction? Would not the market come back to downtown to cater to that population shift? Of course they would. So then, who controls whether Baton Rouge is valued and cool or not? Is it just some curse that befell poor old Baton Rouge, or might it be a mirror we are looking at that we really don't like the reflection we're seeing?

Is it the bars, restaurants and night life that attract young professionals or vice versa?

Lets take food trucks for example, because they are mobile and can demonstrate where the market is viable by where they set up on the reg as it's profitable for them. They do well around Calandros in Capital Hts, Southdowns, etc, but no so well outside of those areas for the most part, so they stick there. I've seen them at events outside the city where thousands of people were and did squat, and yet you would have thought they would have destroyed business considering the product they are offering for so little, but the patrons either walk on by or look at them like they are from outer space.

It's not the business. It's the people. The cool people move to an area, the kind that get it and support cool stuff, and the business will be there in a second to support them. Guaranteed.
