Might also be good to note that the "researcher" is identified only by an initial and last name. Highly unusual.

yeah even if 70 is mentally retarded, i believe the distribution of 70-80 is a lot less than 80-100
that means a ton of mentally retarded people are watching fox news to get the average to 80

One thing that puzzles me is that they just did Fox. Is it all cable news viewers? They did say that those who don't watch cable news average 105.

So when you click on the link at the end of the article that says "More info on this study can be found here," it links you to a Huffington Post article about a study by that institute saying Fox News viewers are "less informed" (whatever that means, BTW). It says nothing about an IQ study.
I went to the Intelligence Institute website and could find nothing on a Fox News study.
An IQ study on 5000 viewers would take an immense amount of time and resources, one would assume, and would be well published. I can find nothing on such a study other than this article. Perhaps others will have better luck.

I'm going to go ahead and confidently say that this "Intelligence Institute" is complete bull shite.
Fun fact: the link at the bottom of the article, labeled as "More info to this study can be seen here", links to a HuffPo article that in no way addresses any IQ study.
I'd be willing to entertain the notion that your MSNBC fanboy is smarter on average than your FNC fanboy, but I'd also bet that both were better than 100, but probably barely. I'm supposed to believe that FNC averages more than a std dev below 100? Get serious.

There was no intelligence test given to a representative sample of Fox news viewers.

i seriously doubt either FNC or MSNBC have an average viewer IQ of under 100. both are cable channels and news-based

You would have to have an IQ of 80 to believe that a group of people who watch a news program has an average IQ of 80.
