I buried an older brother and my father in the last ninety days. It's hard but you do it and move on. It's no disrespect to them. It's just a fact of life. I have wonderful memories of both and that's all I need. Just dig deep, hug your kids and grind it out. Good luck and Godspeed. It does get better.

Sorry for your loss. Prayers sent for family and friends as they figure out how to cope with the loss.. To answer your question, yes, I can somewhat relate to what you're feeling, although my loss wasn't quite so sudden. My childhood best friend died from breast cancer earlier this year at age 42, around the same time as I had my own cancer scare. She was a gentle, loving person with a great sense of humor, and I have often wondered how I can be so lucky when she was not. She had 6 children (the youngest was 4, same age as my youngest) and was a very devout Catholic. If you're a believer of such things, maybe that was why she was called home, because she was ready. I know she would never have been "ready" to leave her family, but spiritually, she was in a good spot. Probably not too helpful for you, sorry... It does get easier with time; eventually you stop questioning the why, accept it, and try to make yourself into a better person/spouse/parent in honor of the lost one.

man, I am sorry to hear about this...we often try to make sense of the death of someone in our lives...honestly, there is no real sense in all of it...I think we just come and go without much of a reason at all and hopefully, we accidentally touch some lives before we leave... again, sorry for the loss of your friend...

Sorry to hear about this tragedy for both you and Dale. I have a feeling it will only get worse for the OT.

I can't imagine growing up without a father.
I normally don't get real involved with the personal prayer threads. Not that I'm cold hearted, there's just always something terrible happening somewhere it gets me down if its all I'm thinking of. But this, the idea if this boy growing up without his dad breaks my heart.. My father will have been gone 7 years ago tomorrow. I was 21 and that was too soon as far as I'm concerned. My thoughts are with their family tonight

Very sorry for the loss of your friend. My best friend died from a head trauma accident when we were 19. It took a long time to accept it, but time helps. Something that has helped me is trying to remember things about that person that inspire you make the most of your life. Prayers for your son and his friend, hopefully you be a positive male role model for him growing up.

Had a very good friend die in a fire when I was at LSU. Very surreal when you are that young. And a few weeks before he died, had another friend, not as close, die by being hit by a car near Fred's and SI.

Have you ever had someone pass away too early and wonder why it was them and not yourself? I had a fried that passed away this afternoon, he actually posts on here, and there is a part of me that wonders why his card was pulled. I know we all have out demons but out of everything I knew about him he was great. He had a wonderful wife and a great little boy. Now I'm left to reevaluate myself as I have a great wife and three great kids and lord knows I'm far from perfect. This is a really tough wake up call. So yes, the OT and TD has lost one of their own. I don't want to post name until all immediate family is notified. I just ask the OT to send out prayers to, we will just say J. R. family. Heads hanging a litle lower today. He was a good one and will be missed.
This is a common affliction of dudes who have survived heavy combat action. Their buddies are what they perceive are these really squarede away and righteous dudes, and the buddy gets KIA in combat. Then the survivor dude says to himself "Why did n't I die instead? He was a better man than me." My VFW Post exists to help out people with this issue. I always hug the survivors and tell them to come have a beer with us everytime they think of their deceased buddy. Yeah, we know that those who have passed on were better men . . . thats why we are proud to be the ones whose duty it is to make sure that they are never forgotten. VFW Christmas parties . . . it's the perfect time for remembering the best of us who have passed on.

I wonder often why God calls certain people home early. I often pray that I'm not one of them. I really hate to see or hear about anyone passing before their time so it really sucks to hear about your friend. Sorry for your loss and will keep his family in my prayers.

I was in shock when my girlfriend told me about the accident. He was her cousin and we were all very close. We are in the process of flying back home to be with the family. This is a tragic loss of a great husband, a great father, and a great friend.
