Our best receiver had 4 catches a game. I don't see Les throwing more than that to the tight end. Desean better learn to block well.

if you people want to be miserable and act like LSU has never thrown the ball to the TE when we have both (a) a capable pass catching TE and (b) a capable quarterback, more power to you. I, on the other hand, will remember that LSU's all-time leader at TE in yards and catches played his entire career under Les Miles.

seriously, ya'll are fricking pathetic.

uh, when was the last time we had a TE worth a damn? If you say Deangelo Peterson I'm going to kick you in the nuts because DP was a classic example of a player getting hyped up by LSU fans into something he was not. shite, LSU made Richard Dickson look much better than he was. Looked great at LSU, couldn't sniff an NFL roster.

This. Our TEs the last few years haven't been good receivers.

Smith would've been the best TE at LSU this year

This. And I think the world of Dickson. As a receiver, Smith has the potential to be much better than Dickson. Dickson could find soft spots in coverage. Smith can straight up beat you and catch balls in tight coverage.

Does Smith still have some growth potential? I was really impressed with his hands tonight, but get nervous sometimes about oversized players in high school who dominate due to their size, and then move up to the next level and end up a bust. Not saying that will happen here, but would like it if he grew another inch or two and put on 15# of Tommy Moffit muscle.

Smith played a hell of a game for Barbe. Made some key receptions when they needed him the most (usually on 3rd down). His first TD reception was an impressive grab in coverage in the back of the end zone.

Hated to see what would have been his 2nd TD nullified for a holding call (although it was the correct call), because it was an amazing play all-around.

He ended up scoring another TD again in the 3rd to put Barbe ahead temporarily. By the end of the game, he looked really gassed; but to his defense, he was running deep routes almost every play. That will take a toll on a big man.

It was easy to see that Rummel focused on stopping Quinn, as he only made 4 receptions (2 on jailbreak screens). Nonetheless, it's hard to takeaway what Rummel did on both sides of the ball. Perfect execution in all aspects of their game plan.

D. Smith balled out his last game as a high school student. He earned player of the game for his team, i'm glad I had a chance to see him play a high school game. Congratulations DS now it's on to bigger and better things.

Smith will be the best receiving TE LSU has had since Robert Royal and I don't think it's really close. He's a matchup nightmare and will play a great deal as a freshman. He made some great plays tonight but did get gassed a little towards the end.

As for Quinn, rummel tried to take him away all night, but showed precision running his routes and has good hands. I think LSU needs to take a close look at rummel TE cethan carter #80. This kid is a player and will make some team happy

Also played a hell of a game. Gave Barbe fits in the flats. That one catch and run that set up Rummel's second TD, he trucked two defenders with one shoulder blow.

He also played a little Defense as well.

We used the TEs at the end of the season a lot more. Once mett actually felt comfortable enough to throw to his 2nd or 3rd read. Also, besides Dickson, most of our TEs this year were blocking TEs.
