Long story short: 1. Too many 4 year schools 2. The legislature basically controls tuition 3. TOPS

Let me be the first to tell people - the grass is all brown and burned up over here and it will cost you both legs, both arms, both nuts (or your ovaries) as well as your sphincter in this state that is bankrupt. The free ride is ending for all and cuts in Louisiana aren't as bad as what other states are facing.

Come on up to red-state Mississippi. We have mostly unwed mothers who need to deliver some fresh babies. Don't expect to get paid b/c our govenor says we don't need no stinking ACA money, and the Medicare money is being replaced with ACA money.

You fell for that 100% for the first couple of years and then boom, you get to pay for it. Have you bothered to do a 10 year take off on new state costs? The Medicare money being replaced by ACA money makes no sense.

Serious question. Are you from there or are you there because of work or whatever? You seem to hate it there.

I don't blame them. The only thing that surprises me is that people are still stupid enough to go to medical school. They will all be working for the government soon.

You link does not support your thread's title. I could not find a single mention of any med student leaving Louisiana for another state. Therefore, what is your agenda with starting this thread?
No medical student is going to put their name on a published quote saying they want to go somewhere else. The easiest place to match is your home school ESPECIALLY in Louisiana. Therefore the students quoted arent going to spit in the faces of their safety net before they match in March. The residencies will have a much harder job keeping students at home much less attract OOS students. There will be a brain drain of the best and brightest. Jindal will be long gone by that time though so he aint concerned.

Diamond, according to Phil Bryant, we are losing $300m medicare money. If we want it back, and more, we must accept the ACA dollars.

I think you are confusing Medicare with the proposed Medicaid expansion - which we can't afford.

The fine schools of Southern, Grambling, Northwestern, McNeese, and UL-xxx disagree. Need to consolidate LSU, UL, and the other systems to one to streamline costs and drive efficiency...... But hell, why we would do something smart like hat?
