quote:

I love it. Duchovny plays a struggling writer who is coming off some literary success, but sex/drugs/alcohol define each episode, which always puts a rift between his estranged wife and daughter.

The cast of characters is good and the dialogue is well-written. It's a half-hour show, so can be knocked out in no time. I recommend it to anyone who isn't boring or under 16.

Agreed, except I really started to dislike the daughter's character after a while. Still a great show and good entertainment. Hank is a fantastic character.

Dexter then 24. Having said that, I haven't watched BE. Have you seen Homeland? Another great show.

Dexter 1-4 are must see and should be first on your list.
Then move on to BWE, only a few seasons.
Then watch 24 because hell, it's just enjoyable yet time consuming.
After all of this, you could watch Dexter 5-the end if you'd like.

Depends on your tastes

In general, BW is in another stratosphere that dexter at its absolute best could never come close to reaching.

The first season of 24 is good, second is exceptional for network tv. The rest suck

Well I decided to start with Boardwalk Empire. I am 3 episodes in and it's good so far. I have always liked Steve Buscemi.

I so need to watch Dexter. So many people I know have recommended it. Since I have nothing but time on my hands (and the wife doesn't work either), we like to watch good shows. We went through around 7 seasons of Weeds in a week or two, same with The Tudors, Walking Dead...When my DVR is running at 60-70% capacity rather than having to delete stuff each week so I don't miss any tapings, it's time for a new show. Boardwal Empire is something I really, really wanted to like (love Steve Buscemi), but couldn't force myself to like it. I love Magic City though. Dexter is one of those shows that is on our list to watch. Have never heard anyone say they don't like it.
