Normally outrageously high or is this just a scam this week by delta guessing most people will buy their airfare this week? That's what happened to me last year from LGA to nola I bought week BCS was announced and got raped and my buddy's bought the next week and paid like half. Any thoughts?

ATL is usually pretty cheap since it's such a big hub

I once saved a good bit by flying to B'Ham and getting a rental.

Flying United out of IAH direct to ATL for $333

Not bad in my opinion

Are you talking airfare for the bowl game?

It's New Year's Eve. The HOLIDAYS.

It's not going to be cheap.

Look at Amtrak. Cheap and you can just drink the whole trip.

Christmas/New Year is always a very busy time and tickets are priced accordingly. That said, Delta is a price-gouging near monopoly. Check their competition ( if there is any for your itinerary). USAir connecting through CLT is often cheaper although connecting is a hassle.

I live in ATL and, yep, Delta jacks its prices to/from appropriate cities, especially for the post season. They know LSU travels well and that Clemson fans will drive down. No surprises here. Move on.

Whatever you decide to do, I would research fares on one computer and buy on a different one.

Delta/Expedia are the worst about jacking up fares if the page refreshes. I once had a Memphis-Chicago ticket for $326, called to get a credit card number and the page refreshed to like $500something. I called Delta and they said they'd give me the ticket for $800something. Told them to frick themselves and booked on another airline.
