Even if this is the case I'd say that this is a positive thing I'd rather someone watch porn than go beat the frick out of someone At the end of the day committing acts of violence is still a choice. Younger people have chosen to do other things instead of act violently. I can't fathom why we can't all just agree that that is a good thing. Why does it have to be prefaced with every imagined dumb arse hypothesis under the sun of why it has to be for some nebulous reason that's obviously a sign of things being worse than they ever were?

I'm not saying it is a negative because it reduces crime. I dislike the video game culture for generating a culture of fatasses.

Fair enough But with the video game culture also comes the tech culture and a slew of advances that make your life more convenient.

I agree. The medical experiments of the Nazi's paved the way for much of our advances in medicine. No, I'm not saying video games=evil genocidal frickbags. . .just an analogy of negative things helping progress society in other ways. Tech advances are great, but we are slowly becoming a less physically capable country. We still have great athletes but they usually fall into 2 categories: -Grow up poor, less access to video games, play outside more -Parents have tracked the kid after determining aptitude, heavily limited VG use.

Fatasses create themselves. It has nothing to do with video games. Not eating a 2500 calorie McDonald's meal in one sitting will do a lot more than never playing a video game.

And physical jobs are becoming obsolete as technology progresses There will always be some physical jobs but the jobs of the present and future are intellectual jobs

Pretty much A lot of people have sedentary jobs. And that isn't anything new. So blaming video games for everything is pretty silly.

Anyone have any other theories about why violence went down. I have one: Maybe all the violent criminals just temporarily left to go look for the Loch Ness monster. I'm sure they'll be back any day now and crime rates will skyrocket.
