One thing about this story that's sad to me is it shows a lack of leadership in the youth of this school. My son turned 11 yesterday but one lesson I've been teaching him since he was old enough to comprehend it is that I expect him to be a leader and not a follower. By this I mean a leader knows what the right thing to do is and he does it. A leader is an example to others, not by their words alone but rather by their actions. A follower will follow others, usually right into trouble. Also, a hallmark of a leader is the way they treat those who are less than they are, those who are smaller or physically or mentally weaker than themselves. A leader treats those like this with kindness and in a helpful manner. I'm thankful that my son's size and physical abilities in athletics has given him a reputation among his peers as someone who a bully should avoid unless he wants his arse beaten mercilessly. This means my son will never have to live the day to day horror of someone who is being bullied. But even more than this, I'm proud that instead of being a bully himself, he has on numerous occasions stepped in and protected the small and the weak from bullies. If more parents taught their kids the important lesson of being leaders, even as children, then bullies would not be the big issue they are today.

Bully's don't fight fair. My son had an issue with one in the 6th grade so I said if he is going to bully you then you don't need to fight fair. He followed my advice and blindsided the kid in the bathroom and beat his ass. He was never bothered again. This happened after several trips to the school to address the issue. On the last trip I told the principal exactly how all this was going to end and if she even considered punishing my son after doing nothing to the bully I would make it my personal goal in life to take her job.

Actually just dealt with this for a friend. Nasty letter/email to school board superintendent (quite current bullying statute), file charges with the police, raise hell until something is done to stop it.

I'm going to be putting my son in some sort of lessons when he's older as well.
Our son has been begging us to go,since he first saw a UFC fight at like 4. We first took him when he was 6, he is 7 now, and he does an hour of wrestling and an hour of jujitsu 5 days a week. He is actually shredded at 7 years old and I can guarantee there is NOBODY in his grade, or probably the next 2 grades up, that can take him.

Am I the only one that thinks this kids needs to learn to defend himself? I know he got sucker punched, but it sounds this is an ongoing thing. Bullies thrive off of fear. Tell your friend to tell his kid to walk up to the biggest one and throw an elbow across his nose. After the bully is on the ground crying because his nose is broken, his friends might kick his arse but, I would be willing to bet they won't mess with him anymore

I would consult with an attorney and let he/she handle it - school should be out front on this already.

Shotgun blasts to the perps balls. Prevents them from having kids.

Are you going to sell tickets to the fight between your son and Jared Allen's son?

I know, and I hate being one of those parents, but it is so fricking cool seeing your kid just dominate.

With these types of principals, this is exactly what parents have to do. My son had a principal with a very similar hands-off attitude in elementary school. Short of threatening to sue, threatening her job was the only way to get her attention.

Is there an award for biggest pussy in this thread? No way should someone not defend themselves because of fear of getting sued. You are the reason this country has been in a steamy pile of shite in the bottom of my toilet. Go cry to your mommy about that Oh wow...move to another school, great idea. Guess what is gonna happen at the new school genius? Oh wow...sue him. That will surely fix the problem of those awful bullies picking on him

Friend of mine has a kid that has been getting picked on at school. Has been threatened by other kids that they were going to kill him in the past. Sheriffs office was called and that person arrested.
Why is the kid still at this school?

Today, he entered the gym and got sucker punched In the side of the head, fell down and landed on his hand and possibly broke it.
Go after the kid's parents

Not to be a dick, but my child would have been removed from that school a long time ago.

Hard to say without knowing the complete truth. There are always two sides of the story. I'm not saying the kid isn't the victim, but I have seen kids about 4'0 tall and under 100lbs, start shite with all state athletes.

Great, so you stop one kid because you complained to his parents. You do realize that there is usually more than one bully, and whenever you knock one down, another will just pop in and his place, don't you?
More $$$ for me and more shame for shitty parents that don't know how to handle their children.
