Maybe down the line, but Bourn is a top of the order guy right now. Revere doesn't draw walks like Bourn does so he'll have to start hitting like he did in the minors.

Revere is a top of the order guy too. He may end up being better than Bourn. Plus he's 5 years younger than Bourn and only cost $500k. Bourn is seeking a deal bigger than BJ Upton's (5yr $75mil )

Bourn Ks a lot for a leadoff guy, too

That would make sense. Bourn and swisher have to be disappointed seeing most of their suitors drop out and all of a sudden they are looking at the Indians and mariners.

That's fair, didn't realize revere hit pretty well last year. Saw that they are planning on batting him 8th so maybe they aren't done adding to their offense yet.

Unless the Indians go crazy don't think bourn gets an Upton deal.

19 XBH? Wow. He's the slappiest of slap hitters. I thought he had more doubles power than that.

Someone is going to severely overpay for Bourne and hate themselves in a few years, just glad it wasnt the Braves.

Phillies made a good decision grabbing Revere for a penny on the dollar compared to Bourne.

This thread has taught me that every Braves and Rangers players that are moving on sucks and the guys they are bringing in are awesome. Good luck getting the production from Upton that Bourn gave the Braves the past year and a half.

Haha. Bourne is a great player, but he isn't worth what he is about to get paid over a long period of time. He will eventually digress into Juan Pierre and get paid a lot of money for it.

Upton is a different type of player, but the Braves will soon sour on Dan Uggla part deux.

I agree, Bourn is worth the ~14M he will get for the next 2 or 3 years but the years will be the problem. I'm just wondering with the market for him seemingly collapsing if he might actually have to take a fair deal.

CHAMPIONSHIP!

Cubs get Ian Stewart for 1 year, $2M and possible $500K in incentives.

Cubs get OF Nate Schierholtz for 1 year, $2.25M.

I guess the only way to look at that is that he turns thoses singles into double with steals. 40 last year in 124 games. I think more doubles come with age but never a real threat.

No way any team gives him that. He would be smart to take the Rangers offer because that is the most years and best amount he is going to get

So, looks like the Rangers are the favorites to sign Greinke:
quote:

The Dodgers are pessimistic about their chances of signing Greinke, Mark Saxon of ESPNLosAngeles.com reports. GM Ned Colletti had a memorable response when asked if he was on the doorstep of signing the free agent right-hander. "We're not on the front lawn. ... We're barely out of the car at the curb. It's better than driving around the neighborhood looking for the house. We know where the house is located. We just can't seem to get out of the car."

And then there is this little nugget:
quote:

The Rangers would prefer to sign Greinke, trade Michael Young to Philadelphia and acquire Justin Upton, Nightengale reports.

Also, did anyone else know that Greinke's wife was a former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader? They think that is one reason why Texas are the favorites right now.

I'm hoping the contract isn't over $150million, otherewise Texas would have grossly overpaid for him.

The Rockies and Reds have engaged in preliminary trade talks about Dexter Fowler, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports. Cincinnati could trade players from its MLB roster, but right-hander Homer Bailey will likely remain with the Reds, according to Rosenthal.

Any Reds package would start with Mike Leake and involve at least two more prospects, Troy Renck of the Denver Post reported last night. The Reds maintain interest in Fowler and the Braves can't be ruled out, Renck adds.

OK, it's two years and $15.5M for McCarthy. Pending physical. Gives the Dbacks a ton of starting pitching depth.
