People who were at the world premiere, hardly biased opinions! Ignore the tweets completely and wait for the reviews as eluded to.

meh. I'll wait for my review.

What If I told you that the hobbit will blow your mind away and will leave you wanting more. A 30 for 30 documentary coming soon.

I expected this. Reviewers will judge The Hobbit based on LOTR and thus a lot of the plot will seem stale.

I am a huge Hobbit fan so I will love it regardless.

If there's one thing everyone is agreeing on, its one hell of a faithful adaptation.

As it should be. Which is why I have not one ounce of doubt that I will enjoy it.

Exactly, I will enjoy the shite out of it but I'm not sure what it can bring to the table that LOTR hasn't already.

Huffington post. That's real talk right there.

For me, it doesn't need to bring anything new. I've read all the books, I know all the stories, I'm just anxious to see it brought to motion picture.

I can't wait to have all of the extended DVDs and spend 2 days in a dark room watching The Hobbit and LOTR films in back to back.

Never read this. How would it be on film?

It's a collection of different stories from the early ages of Middle Earth. I've always referred to it as the "Middle Earth Bible". It starts with the creation of ME and goes through how it was shaped up until the Third Age.

It's all of the background info you'd ever need to know. Not sure how some of the stories would translate to film, but some would be awesome! Especially the wars of Beleriand.

I expect the first one to be very slow and get low ratings. The first part of the book is alot of travelling and kind of fanciful stuff with the trolls and whatnot but once they go under the Misty Mountains shite gets real up until the end of the book.

And whichever jackass said that JRR Tolkein couldnt write a plot is an idiot. The man invented a genre and wrote the perfect quest plot

Fortunately for LOTR fans, their movie didn't have a...Gone with the Wind in it's year to compete with.

Not only that, but the expectations of the quality of work from the first movie will be sky high. Even coming close to being that great will still be an 8/10. Whereas without the previous movies the same people would likely rate it a 10.

Kind of like the prequel trilogy for Star Wars?

I'm all for the minisiries idea.. but I tried reading that "book" about 3 times and just can't.

It's basically an encyclopedia for Tolkien's world.

Did I say I hated them?

Read my post.

But I guess if you don't think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread you can't discuss it.

The point of movie threads is people agreeing and disagreeing, loving certain movies and not loving certain movies...different opinions, opposing views.

Not a giant FAP session.

I'm simply showing the hypocrisy of people. I am going to the midnight of The Hobbit with an open mind. I love the original Lord of the Rings movies and have high hopes for The Hobbit. However, I started doubting the artistic credibility of the filmmakers when they decided to turn the films into a trilogy. It's a 300-page book that should have, at most, been made into two films.
