No idea... 9 month job to earn 45K a year. What a screwing they get.
They also act like they are special working after 5PM or that they deal with stress is special to their occupation.

I made 34k a year as a teacher last year in Louisiana. My job got cut, and I'm good with it. If it wasn't for the fricking unions, I would still have a job. The oldest teachers got to stay on when the job cuts (much needed by the way) went into effect. It's unfortunate, but hey, that's the way the world goes. I'm subbing everyday at usually a different school a day hoping that someone quits halfway through the year. The new system that Jindal has put into place screwed me personally, but if that means a bunch of shitty teachers get out of the system and I get back in, then I'm good with one year of sacrifice. I love to teach and spend a hell of a lot of time preparing each night and during the day. I went to three conferences over the summer (out of my own pocket) because I was told by my parish that I would have a job. One week before the new school year, they told me "sorry, but Coach blank and blank decided to stay on and you're a first year teacher." I was in the top 3 at my school for TOTY, so I did a pretty good job.

I'm a teacher. I'm not in a union nor will I ever be. I get paid well below $45,000, but don't complain. That's not the reason I got into the profession, and I well 90% of my colleagues feel the same. What I hate is when people make blanket statements about all of us. You might know some teachers who harp on their pay, but it is not indicative of all of us.

I especially love it when I've got a big test or something coming up, and some education major talks about how they were coloring in class or how they had to make a simple powerpoint with no paper or anything to go with it. frick them.
