quote:In an effort to be as objective as possible, this is what I think. Bowls are about a lot of things - one of the chief considerations the networks have is ratings. Reality is, this year and back to 1/9 forward, LSU has been about as exciting to watch play football as watching paint dry. I don't care if we struggled our way to a 10-2 record, our offense has all but stunk. It hasn't been pretty or fun to watch, week in, week out. Those who consider ratings would have to be considering that factor. No excitement = low ratings.
Other than the tie ins, the BCS selection rules and team records, what else played into LSU's bowl...
-the way we played this season?
-the way we played in last year's bowl ?
What else could we have done other than win to affect the outcome?

IMO, we could have hired a real OC, fixed the red zone problem, and presented an exciting offense that was in line with the talent LSU has at its disposal, regardless of injuries, suspensions, and other intangibles. All teams have those. Good teams manage to plug in the gaps sooner rather than later. One dimensional offense does not build ratings.

folks have zero clue.
LSU played in the three highest rated CFB games this year: Bama, UF, SCar
after having the five highest viewed games last year
so you have zero clue on what you speak of. The LSU national brand, while uninteresting to you, draws national numbers for the last two seasons

Since you think our unexciting offense has lead to low.ratings, i.challenge you to back that claim up with facts. Id be absolutely shocked if you could.
Since we all.share revenue, a bowl is.only.a a good as the matchup. 10-2 LSU vs 10-2 Clemson is a very nice matchup. If you actually believe the BCS bowl.featuring Northern Illinois is a more attractive game than the Peach Bowl, then you are even more.stupid.than i gave you credit for. Which.is.impressive.
