Should have gotten the Rock or somebody else actually believable physically instead of 5'5 145 pound Tom Cruise.

Congrats, you are the 300th person to post the physical attributes of a literary character the movie going crowd has never heard of or give a shite about.

The illiteracy of others is of no concern to.

Reachers size is constantly referred to in the books you would think they would include such an important part of what makes him who he is into the movie.

It's no different than if they cast a white guy to play a character who is a brotha in the book

Never read the books, so it won't make a difference to me. I do hate when Hollywood does this, though.

Chris Hemsworth would have been a good choice as well. If he's big enough to be Thor, he's big enough to be Jack Reacher

Reacher fans must feel like how I did when I found out Matt McConaughey and Steve Zahn (who I usually like) were cast as Dirk Pitt and Al Giordino in Sahara.

Then when I saw it and found out the whole Lincoln subplot that explains why the hell there was a Confederate ship in the Middle East was cut...

well...

I feel for people whose favorite book series get totally bastardized by know nothing Hollywood dickheads.

Clive Cussler books would make great movies if they followed the text.
Hollywood can't do this.
Zahn did ok as Al Giordino, but the script sucked.

I've never heard of the character. The movie looks like shite, though.

The movie was a shitfest.
The books are great!

I haven't read the Jack Reacher books.
I'll have to pick one up.

I agree Zahn was passable as a comic relief movie sidekick but as Al? Nah.

quote:

He is described as being of Italian ancestry, 5'4" in height, 175 lb, with dark curly hair, swarthy skin, dark Etruscan eyes, and a Roman nose. He does not have an ounce of fat on his body and is stocky and strong. Cussler often describes him as the 'burly Italian'.

none of that describes how Zahn was used.

ISWYDT

FWIW, I like Sahara regardless of whether the actors "fit" the characters or not.

As soon as people come to grips with the fact that the movies are not made for fans of the books and are their own entity, this would be a happier place.
