The Federal Reserve is an independent entity of our federal government. Are you ready to concede yet?
It's never too late to grow up a little bit Russian, I know you're old and retired but no one is too old for character growth. The core of all our talking today has been about this one issue, that the Fed is independent from our federal government. That is a fact.

You realize you have done a complete 180 degree about face on that which means you now agree with my position on page 1 of this thread where I pointed out to you the links between the Federal Reserve and the federal government.
Let's review your previous posts:
"I bet most Americans don't even know the Federal Reserve is no more federal than Federal Express. It's not a part of our Federal Government." (Page 1)
"The Federal Reserve is not apart of our Federal Government." (Page 1)
"And the Federal Reserve IS completely independent from our federal government. No no.. I'm not wrong. It is totally independent from our federal government. No gray area." (Page 2)
There are more just like that. And now "The Federal Reserve is an entity of our federal goverment." A complete reversal on your part.

And the article spends most of its time explaining why a gold standard would not work anymore.. sure it's well established a gold standard can not work. But it has no relevance when explaining why our federal reserved exists.
I found it hilarious that the author spent a paragraph describing bad things that happened to the economy in recent times. He says "the worst credit collapse is a bubble". Didn't we just have a really bad bubble? He goes on "think of Citibank pushing liar’s loans that they knew would go bad". That is a recent event. And he also mentions the 1929 stock market crash. All things after the Fed was created.
This set up his next paragraph where he says "history shows us the boom and bust cycle of banking finance. In the 19th century some smart guys decided to put a stop to it by creating the Federal Reserve". So he lists multiple bad things that happened after the Federal Reserve was created as a set up paragraph to tell us a bunch of smart guys created the Federal Reserve to put a stop to it. Do you see why this is hilarious?

it was not intended to be a source, only as an explanation of the process. And it was not intended for you, since you insist on arguing against the federal reserve, despite it being painfully obvious to anyone who reads the thread that you have no understanding of how the fed even operates, how a reserve system in general functions, the function of money creation, or even how a bank works.
You're like a person who can't do basic algebra trying to argue against the theory of relativity.

Way to totally ignore my post.
Was that not hilarious how the author set up his line about "smart guys starting the Federal Reserve to stop the booms and busts"... I mean come on... that was hilarious. He set that line up by explaining multiple bad things that happened after the Federal Reserve was created.
Also.. you ignored the comment about the gold standard. What does showing a gold standard won't work have to do with a central bank? Is a central bank the only alternative to a gold standard? Nope. So how is that relevant in explaining why we need a central bank. We do not need to have interest attached to each dollar we print.
