You sure stereotype a lot.

One stereotype. It is late. But not really untrue. It represents a lot of discontent that politicians sell to. Care to address the part of my post that refers to the OP's question?

If I am GIVING someone money because they supposedly NEED it, then I have every right to gripe when they buy ELECTIVE purchases with my money.

No one on the planet "deserves" the results of the productivity of another. THAT is the very definition of greed. Wanting shite you didn't earn.

They fail to understand that these people are real people and not just peasants.
Sounds to me like you fail to understand that just because a person EARNED more than another doesn't mean they are a legitimate object of theft.

Sounds to me like you don't understand the meaning or intent of taxes and hate poor people because you think they are taking something away from you personally.

I can agree with that, so long as the local money is spent in ways that helps the nation as a whole.

Peasants are real people. Did you mean pheasants?

to answer your question, that had nothing to do with the OP's question. There really wasn't much anyone could do but point out the blatant bull shite.

I think you're being small minded. Local endeavours can absolutely benefit the nation as a whole, and should.

No one hates poor people. You just don't seem to understand the concept of "using public funds." If you did, you would understand why the use of public funds is scrutinized.

I think you're missing the point of local taxation and its potential benefits.

On message boards, maybe. This ain't the real world. It's understandable for people to scrutinize how public funds are spent. What people do on their own dime isn't anyone's business.

Why would you believe I hate poor people? There was a time in my life when I was poor. I simply don't believe that being poor gives one the right to steal from people who did better than them. I have no reason whatsoever to hate poor people unless they think it's OK to steal.

You do understand that taxes like sales taxes, property taxes and payroll taxes are regressive by their nature right? If you look at tax paid as a percentage of income I guarantee you I, with an annual salary of about 100,000, paid a significantly higher percentage of my income in taxes than most people earning more.
I didn't realize those making >$100k don't pay sales, property. Payroll phases out. But so do the benefits.

Because you refer to poor people as stealing from you.

There is no "meaning or intent" to taxes. There are THOUSANDS of intents for taxes. Again, WTF are you talking about? I was referring to ONE of those many intents of taxes which is simple redistribution which is nothing more than theft with a pretty bow on it.

Hence my statement that you don't understand the discussion. When people don't understand, it usually results in comments as you made earlier.
