At 8.40 what could possibly be the danger in 1000 shares?

Don't do it. Your welcome

The danger is that it might go down.
OTOH, it might go up.
The price per share is not a reliable guide to which will occur, or when. Hell, it could go down to 5, you sell in disgust, then it goes up to 15.

It's a company that has -$244M available to common shareholders, a profit margin of -1.02%, and will be making several billions of dollars in injections to its pension plan the next several years.
Plus the CEO's name is Klaus. That just reminds me of Hans from Die Hard, and he was the bad guy.

AA won't move up much until the worldwide glut of aluminum is absorbed which is not forecast to happen for several years.

You sound like this guy I see in the mirror everyday.

No offense meant - it's just that I learned that lesson early. Bought stock in a company that had been around 30 but fell back to 5, which is where I bought 500 shares.
I also happen to work at said company and things looked they were getting better.
They liquidated two years later. All I got out of it was $30 from a class action lawsuit brought by the vultures that circle in these situations.

This is why you shouldn't invest in your own employer... they're already responsible for your paycheck, diversify.

Normally I completely agree, as I implied I learned a lesson.
Fortunately it was early in my career and not much was at stake.
