Making the second trek with our HS FB team in two weeks. Went to Superior Steak House with the other parents last Friday, looking to upgrade. Likely to be sitting there awhile, so a bonus for a good Food/Bar combo spot to spend a few hours.

What kind of food are you looking for?

Also, upgrade in food quality? Bar quality?

2 John's has a nice bar area, there steaks however, are comparable to Superior's. Mabry House is probably one of the best places in town but the bar is tiny.

Texas Street Tavern has the best steak in town, but also has a smallish bar. Noble Savage is a great place, but doesn't open til 5 pm which wouldn't work if you are wanting dinner and drinks before a HS football game.

Superior Grill, Oyster Bar or Cantina Laredo are a solid options for this

other than that some good dinner options are Ernest's, Olive Street Bistro, Mabry House, L'italiano in Bossier, Chianti, Bella Fresca. there's also a Bistro Byronz in Shreveport if that's your thing. Noble Savage if you're looking for something good but different.

my favorite lunch spots are Rollin In The Dough, Cascio's Market Bistro in Bossier and Cush's

Just by the number of schools in South Louisiana versus North Louisiana that doesn't happen to the South Louisiana schools that often.

Haven't been in over 10 years myself...I've heard mixed reviews the last year or two.

One meal it's great, the next is kind of lacking.

Ernest's is always good if you stick to what they've always done well: marinated crab claws, limestone salad, shrimp remoulade, Snapper Shreve.

I get all that almost every single time. Two or three visits ago they had a lamb special that was fantastic.

Great list R2R. I'll poll the passengers to see which food group wins out. The bar request was mine.

Yeah LSU, Calvary should have had to come to us (we were the hugher seed), but the Socialists that run LHSAA like sharing the wealth, apparently by spending ours. That drive back to BR down the most boring stretch of road ever paved, after drinking heavily during the ArKansas debacle was misery. Superior has a nice bar, and our server was really good, but the food was very meh.

Go to Chianti, and then when your dinner is done, step outside to the Vintage Wine bar that is attached.

ETA: For some reason I feel like I'm the only person in Shreveport who knows Chianti exists. I rarely see it come up when people ask for restaurant rec's in Shreveport. I personally love the place.

Went there years ago. Is it at the same location on Line where Crock o Cheese used to be? Next to a Greek place?

I haven't eaten at Chianti in a few years but I go to Vintage every time I visit Shreveport.

I can't think of a greek place by there. It is next to Sushi Gen (probably a relatively new rest.) and just south on Line from Anvil, Tony's Liquor, etc...

The cub... Need reservations. Hand cut steaks and scalloped potatoes. Attached bar where generations of Shreveportians get drunk.

Herby K's another longtime famous hole in the wall. Sit on the patio get goblets of ice cold beer, onion rings, and a shrimp buster

I don't know the last time you went to The Cub, but it has really gone downhill. Steaks are smaller but the same price and aren't as tasty as they used to be .. especially considering the price. Cub potatoes are still legit though.

The Vintage was Athena Delight before it burned about 10 years ago or so.

As for the recommendations, I agree with everything so far. I love chianti- hate had several good meals there.

I'd also add Wine Country, Real Pickle, and Oyster Bar.
