Who gives a shite about some 1950s players. We are discussing these days. Josh Reed is the best I've seen. He was unstoppable, but Tyrann is up there also.
Read the thread. We are talking about the entire history of LSU football. The lack of comprehension these days is destroying our discourse.

Read the thread. TM's 2010 season was not GREAT relative to all of LSU history.
I did read the thread thanks. You are still incorrect. We are talking about players' careers. We are not discussing one individual season in the history of LSU football. Didn't he pass everyone on the list of all time forced fumbles at LSU?? Well some of those came his freshman season. His career at LSU was two seasons and he did some remarkable things in each of those years. If you would like to discuss the greatest individual season in LSU history, then no, 2010 would not even be in the discussion. But we are discussing the best play makers in their LSU careers, so not counting his 2010 season is just dumb and doesn't make any sense.

AND 2011 >>>>>> 2010. So 2010 didn't add much to his "BEST EVVAAAR!!!!!1" résumé.

I'll say it again, TM was a great playmaker BECAUSE Claiborne being on the field allowed TM the luxury to freely hawk the ball, just like Simon was able to do when he stepped in for TM last year. Claiborne > TM as a player.

Funny. You are trying to bash everyone's comprehension skills and yours are failing miserably here. Yes 2011 was a better individual season for Tyrann Mathieu than 2010. He did more as a playmaker in 2011 than he did in 2010. Are you just going to throw away the season with the least amount of plays for every person we are discussing here? How many of Mathieu's sacks, fumbles, and picks came as a freshman? So you can't just discount those plays out of the equation just because there were more electric plays made in 2011 than there were in 2010. What the frick is so hard for you to understand about that?

+1 My thoughts exactly. Maybe Casanova and Cannon come close, but neither reaches TM7 level. In fact, if you considered all of college football, I don't think you could name more than 10 in the last 30 years. You could throw out most of the Heisman winners like Gino Toretta and Vinnie Testeverde. They are jokes compared to TM7.

Casanova was a three time All-American playing all over the field. TM7 did not even play three seasons at LSU.

Let me put it in words you can understand: one good/decent season + one outstanding season = great college player. 3 to 4 outstanding seasons = legendary player Which one was Cannon and Casanova? Which on was TM? I rest my case.

You really can't comprehend anything can you? I said about 3 posts ago I DO NOT THINK AND I AM NOT TRYING TO ARGUE THAT TM7 IS THE GREATEST PLAYMAKER IN LSU HISTORY. You said he had one great season, which was an idiotic statement. He had 2 great season and the discussion being had is about great playmakers in LSU history. I'm not saying I think or don't think that Mathieu is as "legendary as Cannon and Casanova", I simply said you are wrong in saying that Mathieu had one great season. Several other posters have agreed with me in saying that as well.

"1950's players". Why am I not surprised at the lack of knowledge of LSU football history by the same ranters who think CLM is a horrible coach. Their attention spans are good for at best 4 yrs or so. Watching Casanova run those 3 punts back for TD's against O.Miss, at a time when the rivalry was still red hot, was just as exciting as any of the great plays TM7 did, and I love the way TM7 played. There is a good reason why his name, and Cannon's, name is on the wall at TS. And a good reason why TM7's never will be.

Um Billy Cannon? LSU's only Heisman winner? I think there's your answer.

Wow. this thread = fail. TM7 was a very good playmaker, but does that mean we forget he wasnt close to the best corner on his own team. Mo is pissed at you
