has nothing to do with les. It's their love for saban. that's their guy. They like a coach who's chewing out players. it's miles #1 flaw in their mind. he's way to respectful.
Right...it's this. It's far more about the image than anything tangible. When you have to resort to bitching about the WAY a team wins because there's no legitimate way to complain about an 82% winning clip without sounding like a fricking loon, there's a real problem.
And just for the record...there are things Miles does that drive me bat-shite crazy! But at the end of the day, as a guy who has followed LSU religiously since I was 12 in 1982, I really Really REALLY like winning at this kind of clip. Had you ever told me LSU would be in a position to do this in my lifetime I'd have never believed you. It doesn't make me complacent, it makes me HAPPY! We're winning at a rate never seen before at LSU. Could be be EVEN BETTER? Yeah! But that in no way means I have to manufacture complaints about where we are now, because there is only one program in the nation that would not trade for ours. I just can't muster up the needed vitriol to complain that it should be even MORE awesome.

There are too many fans that will never give him credit. Calling any good coaching calls "lucky". They see what they want to see. And believe what they want to believe.

I disagree. There are few of them but they are just very vocal.
Miles runs a great program, but is a questionable game coach at times. Most people prefer a stable program, the others are just loud.

He runs a Big 10 offense in the SEC. Needs to get a quality coordinator and let him call the plays.

But the thing is, he's only a bad gameday coach when his calls don't work. Against Florida in 2007 he was the greatest gameday coach who ever lived. Bad playcalls only happen when the called play doesn't work. Has he had some time management gaffes? Who hasn't? We watch 12-14 LSU games a year and see all of his mistakes, whereas we watch 3-4 games of some of the other teams.

Most programs would dream of being in the hunt for a championship in 6 seasons over an 8 year tenure. Of course there are frustrating losses during a coaches 8 year tenure. This is college football, and every loss is frustrating because it means so much.
Your problem in your argument is that every major program has these frustrating losses over a period of time that did or could have cost them a shot at the bcs championship game. Here are some examples from just this season:
Florida lost to UGA - had a ton of turnovers
Bama lost to A&M - Passed the ball inside the 10 year line
Oregon lost to Stanford - Couldn't get offense going and didn't make any offensive adjustments
UGA - Got smoked by South Carolina 35-7
Florida St. - Lost to an unranked NC State team
All of these teams mentioned have close or comparable talent to LSU, and the only one that played as tough a schedule this year is Florida.
Every program has "the ones that get away." Miles is not a perfect coach, but he is still a great coach. With a bowl win, he will finish in the to 10 in 6 of 8 seasons and possibly in the top 5 in 5 of 8 seasons. That is pretty remarkable.

He has gotten far more conservative since 2007. You rarely see that guy coaching on game day anymore.

Not to this fanbase, its #1 every season or GTFO. Few people realize we are not the only powerhouse school where good players end up.

I agree but you see flashes of it. I think the chances he took that didn't pan out and the criticism he took make him shell up a bit. The play against Auburn in 07 (he caught the ball with 4 seconds left so it's not as close as most would like to believe), he was chastised for not kicking the FG when the play won the freaking game. How do you satisfy those fans?

2005- #5 (SEC Championship loss)
2006 - #3
2007 - #1 (SEC and BCS Championship)
2008 - unranked
2009 - #17
2010 - #8
2011 - #2 (SEC Championship & BCS Championship Loss)
2012 - Currently 7 in the bcs standings
Yeah, that's decent.
And for the record here are Saban's AP finishes at LSU:
2000 - #22
2001 - #7 (SEC Championship)
2002 - unranked
2003 - #1 (SEC & BCS Championship)
2004 - #16
Saban did a great job building the program, and Les has done a great job maintaining it. This program is better than when Saban left.
I have tried to stay away from getting frustrated by the rantards the past few days, but I finally snapped.

Dude, everyone becomes a negatiger after games like Ole Miss (clock it) and Tennessee in '10, temporarily.

LeaugeCityTiger, great post and I agree 100%. Thanks for the post. I've accepted today that Miles is entrenched at LSU and will only go if we get below .500 or worse. It is as it is. I HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT. I accept it and hope every year luck falls our way the 2 or 3 plays that we need.

The fact that only 2 or 3 plays make or break our season should tell you how good we have it.
