Good wings (surprisingly), along with Tex-Mex, BBQ, and Indian are a few food items that I have always said New Orleans lacks.

the trick is to keep it simple. a lot of people try to out do each other and forget that a good piece of chicken, fried properly (a little extra crispy on the skin) with just the butter/franks sauce is what its all about. blue cheese, some celery. done. so many places try to go over the top and get the craziest sauces, and the best breadings and all that.... buffalo style started with some cooks making an after shift meal and just tossing a few leftover wing pieces in the fryer and dumping a little hot sauce on them. it seems like i always end up getting stuff thats either soggy (gross - either not cooked crisp enough, or breaded and soaking in sauce for too long) or trying to be gourmet (good, but doesnt hit that authentic taste of home for me).

This. I had hopes for Bayou Hot Wings but they are way too sweet traditional buffalo - if they just doused in crystal and butter and garlic could be 10x better. WOW Sucks and has sold out nationally, chain garbage... Make your own at home rather than eat them in New Orleans. See this LINK ... Try the Bricks... They also have a General Tso wing I'd love to try, still. Spinoff: New Orleans will never have a Plucker's... Owner's are from NOLA, are Jewish, really, and are faithful to their Texas stores' roots. Won't even give their own cousin (Baton Rouge) the rights to New Orleans supposedly.

Went there 4 different times. Maybe because my expectations were sky high, but I thought it was okay. Certainly not what I anticipated. only went there 4 times because I had people visiting wanting to try where it was invented I like Pluckers and wings made at home with just Franks/butter.

I'd love for New Orleans to get a Pluckers. It's a shame that it looks like it will never happen.

I agree on the whole, but The Joint is some of the best BBQ I've ever had.

Bravo. A simple wing is just perfect without all the extra.

Stopped by Bricks on the way home from work. They had a new pop-up in the back (New Orleans Smokehouse?) and an entirely different menu for the night. I settled for some shrimp chowder, it was alright. Still need get my wing fix.

The Bricks are pretty good... I had wings from Bayou Beer Garden on Friday and thought they were great.
