Name a coach who REALLY just needs a change of scenery...

I'll start:
Kirk Ferentz.
He's in his 14th year at Iowa. That has just GOT to suck, living in Iowa. Recruiting is a whip, too. What recruit in his right mind really WANTS to go to Iowa, unless it's to be on the wrestling team.
He's a great coach(could be an NFL head coach anytime he wants) who is stuck in a crappy place, but he's at a school where they pay exhorbiant sums to help the coach overcome the mediocrity of being in Iowa. He has a 10-year, $40 million contract that runs through 2020.
If Les left, and LSU could get him, Ferentz would be a great hire, which would re-energize Ferentz. I think, right now, he's just not motivated. He has burn out from trying to win with recruiting classes ranked 47th, 25th, 45th, 75th and 44th in the last five years according to Scout. For 2013 they are currently ranked 41st.
That ranking has nothing to do with Ferentz. It has everything to do with Iowa. You put Ferentz at LSU, with the talent LSU has, and we would never miss Miles. The only concern would be, would the Chief stay?

How about stoops? They are always at the top and in contention but he can't get over the hump.

What about Dantonio from Michigan State?

Iowa City is actually a pretty cool college town.

Iowa is actually a pretty nice place to live and I say that after living in Louisiana for 21 years and in Iowa now for less than one

Have you lived through a winter yet?
It is nice up there during spring-summer, but winter? count me out.

Iowa isn't as bad a place as the OP made it out to be.
However, the football facilities at Iowa would make any lower-tier SEC school's facilities look world class by comparison.

I just moved to Des Moines this year. It is actually pretty nice up here, but this winter is starting to freak me out (although I am sort of excited about snow)
The OP doesn't make sense though, what makes Madison, Wisconsin or Ann Arbor, Michigan any better than Iowa City, Iowa?
There is no excuse for Iowa to be as bad as they are right now. I agree with you that Ferentz is just complacent and needs a change of scenery, but I don't think Iowa is holding him back, he is holding himself back (plus a lot of unlucky injuries and attrition)

I agree with Ferentz.
I think Tedford could win big in the right situation.
Mike Gundy needs to move somewhere with rich recruiting grounds. If he had unreal talent he could be a force.

this. I almost feel bad for the guy, Knowing he's gonna get the can and there's nothing he can do about it. Had a really good team for the better part of a decade and lost it all over two years.
Hope he goes to San Diego.
