I really wonder what the actual payout is for this sum. You have to accept it as a lump sum or annuity payments. And when you get the severely discounted lump sum, you have to cash out most to Uncle Sam. What's left over after all this??

Setting up trusts for your immediate family doesn't make you go broke, giving handouts to every person you know will make you go broke.

$327.4 million, per the Powerball site. Say about half goes to federal and state taxes, depending on where you live. You get to take home around $164 million.

First, tell the Feds that my family always buys tickets together so I can split it on the from end without wasting my gift tax exemption. Next, blow about $5 million. Third, pay off the student loans for some of my friends. The rest would be sheltered in various trusts and LLCs.

100 given out in various amounts to family, friends and charity. 25 on property and other investments. 75 somewhere safe that pays out interest. The rest (probably around 10) I'd blow on dumb shite and parties over the course of a few years and probably die.

Provided that your are the sole winner.
If you take cash your down to 250 Million
Then after taxes your looking at about 125 Million.
I would give family about 250 thousand each.
That is my 2 parents, my wife's two parent, and her three siblings. Pay off all my debt, then move away just so I don't get harassed by everyone I know. Buy all the toys I ever wanted which is about 250 thousand, then pt the rest in investment and let my money make money so my great, great grand kids would be rich.
