the plays in our arsenal now that we got the OL settled are plenty good enough to win an NC with. we don't need to be throwing the baby out with the bath water. what needs to change is our tendencies in certain situations, OFFENSE AND DEFENSE. late in a game where we must have a first down against a quality team, three plays up the middle against a stacked line just didn't do it. EVERYBODY knew what was going to be ran and it came true and is esp. true if the other team has it's time outs. our OL cannot move 8 guys back 4 yards. and sabans comment about our D in the waning moments of both halves of the bama game should be addresses. WE DID JUST WHAT WE ALWAYS DO AND PLAYED RIGHT INTO HIS HANDS. just my two cents on the offense flap.

I actually agree, but who on the coaching staff is going to force Miles to "break his tendencies"? So far, we have been through multiple OC's, varying degrees of style and talent at QB and on offense, and no one has been able to do it except for Crowton in '07. Miles, despite the talent that he has and coaching staff's abilities, does not make the offensive adjustments that play to his team's strength. He's got a set philosophy and he runs with it, all others be damned.

Throw more on first down, and in the redzone throw into the endzone, utilizing tight ends more. Have a good day!!!!

If you want a "creative" offense, go be an Oregon fan

What are the games we have lost specifically because our offense lacked "creativity"?

I think he's saying none

We just need to be less predictable and scout our own tendencies

It's not about having exotic plays. It's about not being predictable.

That's what I'm getting from the OP anyway

I like what our offense has become in the latter part of the season... ie. balanced.

At the beginning of the year it was just way too vanilla.

Also, nobody is looking for an Oregon style of offense, just more versatility.

Florida's offense this year was actually more versatile and creative than ours was, yet remained very conservative. It's not just about passing the ball all over the yard or running a HT spread.

No, that's just silly. There was much more to that loss than a lack of creativity.

We need to change some things. Our offensive tendencies are very bad.

For example the Warecat formation.

We run 1 of 2 plays out of it. Ware up the middle or Ford on a pitch. Key in on Ford and you know where the ball is going.

The design of the Wildcat formation is to spread the field and create options.

Best idea for this.

5 man line.
Travis Dickson at TE to the right.
Ware at QB
Hill at RB
Shep at left slot
OBJ and Landry or Wright or Boone at WR.

Always put Shep in motion. Defense has to respect him on a sweep.

Ware has the ability to hand it to Shep. Hand it to Hill. Run it himself. Or pass. As well as the option game.

That offense could be unstoppable.

Florida 2008; slant for a pick six, slant for a pick six.
Auburn 2010; run run run punt.
Arkansas 2010; run run run punt
National Championship
Florida game this year.

Pretty much look at any loss since 2007 and it had something to do with it.

Pinning these losses on lack of creativity is retarded. We lost to UF because we had NOTHING going on offense. We converted what, like 2 third conversions all day long. We finally hit a big pass and then ODB fumbled it. We had key players on defense out with injuries during the game.

Arkansas 2010? Possible the 80 yard TD strike with 3 seconds left in the half had a little something to do with that loss.

Which is different than what I specifically asked.

Of course, you can easily look in hindsight and say that had "something to do" with EVERY loss.

However, it seems ridiculous to suggest that, with just a bit more offensive "creativity", Miles would be undefeated during his tenure at LSU -- which seems to be the logical conclusion to what y'all are arguing.

The florida loss is due to reciver drops and lack of o-line progress. You can be as creative as you want but if the ball stays on the turf, aint a whole lot creativiy is going to change.

-So the offense going three out and out over and over had nothing to do with our defense being worn out in the 4th quarter? The defense lived on the field because of the lack of offense.

So you are saying that one play before Halftime was the difference maker in the game?

National Championship
-Same as above. Trent Richardson's first TD on the ground against LSU. Defense was dead. Offense crossed the 50 once.

Florida
-Same as above. Florida was gashing us in the 4th quarter because our offense kept them on the field.

Actually I think back to it.

2007 Kentucky. Everyone knew Charles Scott was getting the ball in OT on 4th down. And it was stuffed.

You can't just pin the inability of the offense to move the football on lack of creativity. That is just stupid.

Are you telling me that if we ran a statue of liberty play and a flea flicker and a hook and ladder we would have all of the sudden run up and down the field against Florida and Bama??
