But just be candid here. You have to admit that the SEC title is tarnished when - a month later - another SEC team humiliates LSU 21-0. Looking back on 2011, no one in the nation thinks that LSU was the best team in the SEC. No one believes that, not even the majority of our own fans. Because we were demolished in the NCG, the nation believes that Bama was the best team in the conference.
That was one of the worst aspects of losing the NCG in the shameful manner that we did - it was as if we ceded the SECC along with losing the NC. Don't get me wrong, we kept the trophy, but we didn't maintain the perception of being the best in the SEC. Th evast majority of college football observers would say that Bama, not LSU, was the best team in the SEC.
That's just an honest appraisal of how the NCG impacted perceptions and reputations.
In any event, we should have just won the damn NCG on the field, then we would be mocking Bama and all would be well, rather than debating the epistimological ramifications of a rematch loss.

Well you have to consider how rare that whole situation was. It has been pretty much been understood that an SEC championship meant a National championship. Not many people expected that last year.

I agree. Down 21-0 in the 3rd and you run it up the middle the rest of the game against Bama's D. That's not madness....he gave up. He gave up on you, me and all the Seniors on that team too. Talk about perception after that game??? That was one of the poorest displays of team control and discipline I have ever seen and he is a horrible game day coach...
