Either that or a weber kettle as a smoker? Any opinions or suggestions?

I have an Orion. I have only used it once. It worked as advertised that one time.

I have one and like it. It's more of a cooker than a smoker. That thing can get hot and they do not come with a thermometer to measure internal temp. I've cooked everything from brisket to turkeys in mine. I'd say it is best for ribs and smaller meals (I love to smoke ducks on mine), but it doesn't do a great job of smoking the larger items like brisket.

We have one. We love it. Have done turkeys, brisket, my favorite is pork butt. Easily moveable-unlike our egg :-) we bring it camping and over to other peoples houses. Well worth the 100$ or whatever it was.

I have the the WSM (weber smoky mountain). Easy to fire up, low and slow, or hot, for smokes up to 16 hours on one load of fuel.
