They don't owe a thing. They are the foundation of Obama building our economy from the ground up. The poor is the group of "contributors" to make America strong again. Free stuff, Forward.

Thanks for the correction professor. I was only speaking about the wine. It's simple. Trade time for money. Trade money for wine. Presto, he bought the wine with his money. Later he used the tax code to keep more of his money but this does not negate the fact that he bought the wine with his money. On foodstamps, I agree they are bought too. The government confiscates money from citizens (or borrows it), buys the ink, paper, equipment and pays someone to print them. So, yes they are bought and its all done with private money passing through government back to private citizens.

Unbelievable. No, the businessman is not paying for both... when you write off an expenditure you're not paying for it.

No, he didn't actually pay for it if he is reimbursed at a later time.

I thought your other thread participation was awful. One is the government taking money from taxpayers (food stamps, since I have a feeling this will need to be explicit) The other is money not taken from the taxpayer, it's money the taxpayer doesn't owe. The man bought his wine.

Are you sure that is the way it works? So what if that bottle of wine secured a contract for a million dollars worth of work and several full time jobs? Worth it not?

Rodger, the forum all-star. Nice opening line, a true veteran move. The man did not buy is wine, at best his company purchased it, and depending on that situation the company likely writes things off on their end.

You have to remember the liberal mindset. It is all technically the governments money.

Just stay out of the way and stop blaming the rest of us for their situation. Everyone owes it to society to be productive and to seek advancement through hard work. Those that are unable should be cared for. Those that are unwilling should leave.

So, instead of owing 1, 000, 000.00 to the government they now owe 999, 000 for the quarter?

More often it's just fun and games for the businessmen. My father (who is almost retired) and I get into this and he's conceded the position he held for a long time. He works in the oil/gas industry. He goes to 3-4 conventions a year that don't have to be paid for, it's written off as an expense but he even admits that they're largely pointless, just an excuse to get together and enjoy life. Why else would these 'conventions' be in places like San Diego, Vancouver, Myrtle Beach? These people rape the system to live it up, bottom line. And at the same time they're ripping apart people on the opposite end of the spectrum that are doing the same, all the while the guy in the middle get's the brunt of it, not getting any benefit but stuck with the bill. And I like how we've now filtered this conversation down to this aspect of it, we've left behind the 100 billion in subsides, tax shelters, and other forms of corporate welfare.

This is about the third thread you've simply trolled me, I'm done responding to you unless you want to start acting like an adult. I've read some posts of yours in other threads, I know there is an intelligent and mature adult in there somewhere, I've witnessed it. I wish that same person could respond to what I write, but you're dead set on trolling. You're a quote sniper too, it's an art form that really paralyzes conversations on forums. Way to ignore the rest of my response, which was an explanation to what you quoted.. you play games on here, you're not really interested in meaningful dialogue.

10% of the country (top wage earners) pay the bulk of the taxes. Which part of the "middle" are you talking about? By the way - these are also the same people taking these business deductions. It works out - plus they are buying the food stamps......

Only in America it has become a sin to be work hard, and be successful. What a shame, like Dennis Miller said "I'm all about helping the helpless I am done with the clueless"

This is a lost cause. I've got better things to do than have one idiot line up after another.. These top 10% are also the beneficiaries of tremendous amounts of subsidies and tax shelters, you're stuck inside an information bubble my friend. The middle guy that I'm talking about is the guy who doesn't get to go on multiple vacations a year labeled as 'conventions'. They don't get to go deep sea fishing at no expense (which my dad just did last month). They don't get to golf for free at amazing places (while working), they don't get to write off country club memberships and bottles of wine.. they're the people grinding it out day in day out, and yes still paying a hefty amount of taxes. The middle class is what is getting destroyed, the dependents are on both ends of the spectrum (poor and wealthy). There's so many misconceptions out there it's really unbelievable, participating in this forum is not good for my health.. I didn't know it was this bad. I thought people were a little brighter. I'm out.
