I am not sure if they are 7.1 but Steel Series are good headsets. I have some and like them so far.
The only headset I haven't owned yet are Astros and in order of quality I would say it goes...
Steel Series
Tritton
Turtle Beach
Of course Astro probably tops them all
Turtle Beach just feels so much cheaper than others

Pretty sure my xbox live has expried... Saw multiple sources for 3 month membership for between $10-$12 but cannot find a site that has this price.... What gives

I hope thats not the order you think of sound quality. I hsd those steel series v1 and they don't hold my ax pro or x41s jock strap. I think the trittons are best as plastic quality goes. My TBs and the v1s both feel pretty cheap to me, but the x41s are a lot more comfy. I'm all about sound quality over anything else, though

Go back and read my post again. You were so eager to point out you had Astros I guess you missed where I didn't rank them cause I have never owned any.
I was talking about build quality. I think the Steel Series I have are far and away better than TBs. Not even close. Tritton and the newer SS are close but the nod goes to SS for me. Now I have the old AX Pros but the new Trittons look very nice and not as bulky. That is a big problem I have with my Trittons.
Another thing is the chat cable for Tritton and TB both suck and constantly break. I have had to order extras numerous times. SS has a nice adapter that seems sturdy and fits the controller better.
Sound quality is a different subject and a little more subjective IMO.

I have the newer ax pros and older SS v1s and I think the ax pros are night and day better built then the v1s (but they are newer so that's probably why). Which TB headset did you have? I think my TB x41s edge out the SS v1

Completely agree with this about the TB chat cable. I've gone through 3 of them so far.

My bad on the Astros. Guess I am the jackass that needs to read better. 
You said X41s and I was thinking Astros A4 for some reason.
I have two sets of TBs. The old X31s and the 5.1 surround that works on Xbox and PS3. I use them on my PC as well. Forget the model number. TBs have just always felt cheaply made to me. Even more so after having some sturdier headsets. Though to be fair my Trittons did break before my TBs but they are going strong with some duct tape on them.
