Gonna be interesting if Teddy Bridgewater talks and what'll happen with Clint Hurtt on Louisville's staff.

what does talking to the NCAA have to do with any possible criminal charges?

The only thing I know for sure, is that there is 0% chance Arkansas will hire Butch Davis.

The NCAA has no subpoena power, so they would just come down on the University regardless of whether or not these guys talk to them. If I'm a former player, I'm telling the NCAA to go frick themselves.

Doesn't matter. The NCAA isn't law enforcement. If they simply "believe" what Shapiro says without any other evidence, nothing can or will happen to the former players.

From the article:
quote:
My opinion: Regardless of whether it's bluffing or not, the NCAA - by sending this letter to former players - is being heavy-handed and manipulative. Considering the NCAA has no jurisdiction over former players, it's offensive that it would threaten to believe a convicted felon without additional corroboration. A felon, for that matter, who's in jail for a crime involving lying (a Ponzi scheme).
Yes, there is that.

You take a hundred highly talented players and make them celebrities in their school and with their fanbases. Yet most come from poor backgrounds and in fact are still poor. Does the NCAA really expect this not to happen. Broke, 20 years old and lots of cash and women being passed to them. Of course they'll cave to temptation. It's human nature.

These people from south florida are really animals. They bet on youth football and other youth sports, so none of these alligations are really that far of a stretch.

Paul Dee "Memorial" University...I hope they erect a statue of this hypocrite and fraud, standing over the ruins of Miami as it's torn down, wagging his finger at the dust and rubble. It would be fitting that Miami is finished and he's the guy who did it...on his watch. High profile arseholes demand high profile compliance.

ok, and if they have to take Ship's word, your alma mater get the death penalty. You do understand what he is saying happened right? SO if the players don't talk, the ncaa will levy their penalties on the school with the information of the people who have talked. I do know this, if nothing wrong went on, why wouldn't you talk to them?

So basically the NCAA wants former players (many of which played a decade ago) to rat on the school or they will believe everything that came out of Shaprio's mouth, despite being a proven liar???? The NCAA is a joke and anyone who actually thinks Miami is getting the "death penalty" is living in a fantasy world. The school has cooperated with the investigation and they've given up TWO bowl bids already. They'll get USC-like sanctions but nothing that will destroy the program.
