For all those offended, go to a soccer game in England. Compare and Contrast.

Why do the students think it's cool and witty to chant profanity during the game? I don't understand the draw.
I don't mind the profanity, but how ridiculously juvenile is "suck that tiger dick?" At least have an imagination.

If anything, the students should have the upper hand in this. It's where they go to school and playing their school's team. I understand a lot of money is donated by people who have a problem with the chant, but come on, you're going to a college environment. Do you expect class everywhere?

Other than some silly students, are there really a horde of fans suggesting they like the chants? No? Fine... So what then? Is anyone suggesting that calling the students classless, or childish, or rude, or (add your own) is the way to go about effecting change? I'd suggest the never ending harping about it in terms like the above are exactly what's keeping the students doing it, and finding new and creative ways to go further. You cant shame a drunk, essentially adolescent mob into behaving properly. Other than name-calling the students in reverse, I just don't see the end game with bitching about this. What's the goal...because changing behavior this way isn't going to happen.

I'm a student, and even if I didn't think the chant was juvenile and immature, I'm tired of songs getting banned. The amount of resiliency the section shows on this issue is as impressive as it is idiotic. Stop doing it, and we stop losing songs... It's not a hard concept to wrap your head around, so I don't understand the complaints when songs like "Neck" get banned

If you don't like it, don't come to the games. Simple as that.

So, we're recommending soccer hooliganism, too? Europeans are unanimously pleased with the destruction, arrests, fights etc. Let's not be left out of the excitement! How about burning tires instead of tailgating? (WV has dibs on couches)

Ohhh Okay !! Good. Then when big-time recruits are turned off and don't come here, Miles starts losing, and TGBFTL can't even do Pregame without a giggling schoolgirl student section peeing on each other laughing while they do their prescious little 'chants', will you want to come to the games ????????????????????? If I were Alleva, I'd lobby the Administration to reduce the student section and move it to the West Upper and sprinkle them in separate sections.....

You can't seriously think this will happen. Trust me, those recruits probably love it. It probably makes them think, "Hell fricking yeah. I could definitely play for these people." ETA: and recruits families? Trust me, they are worried about more aspects of the team/school than whether the student section may chant vulgarities at games. Chanting vulgarities in the library may bother them.

On a related note, what the hell happened to the student section chanting tiger bait when the opposing team comes out? All they ever do is boo now. The tiger baiting sounded much better and I believe added more to the atmosphere.

The VERY FIRST TIME this happens, I'll consider this...
quote:
I'd lobby the Administration to reduce the student section and move it to the West Upper and sprinkle them in separate sections.
Until then, this is simply prescription grade hyperbole. Again...I'm not a fan of it, but this is the VERY type of attitude that will prevent it from dying on the vine all on its own. If I didn't know better, I'd swear your real goal was to ensure it kept up and became more vulgar, because that's certainly the end result of this type of talk.
