Hey. I assume one can find an example of almost anything in this world. But I think you would acknowledge that this isn't common.

There are leeches of every race, being a leech isn't the problem. The perception of pandering is a problem and Republicans are losing the PR war on this one.

Yep.

No shortage of white leeches. They are a significant vote that the left can rely on. Hell, no shortage of American leeches. In fact, that number is rapidly approaching or has already reached a tipping point.

Your bull shite aside, that fact contradicts your previous position.

It's not bullshite, it's fact.

How were the Republicans to out bribe LBJ? The Democrats had permanent control of congress at the time. LBJ got to choose he had the power and he chose the Blacks.

"Chose the Blacks?" What are you talking about?

Yuo can call me a racist all you want but that's because you misuse the term.

You routinely use pejorative terms and phrases to paint Black folks with a broad brush. If you're not a racist, the word has no meaning.

damn near 90% of the posters on here don't understand the black community and the reason why most vote democractically.

People on here thinks it's b/c of some free handouts from the gov't but that is way far from the truth. Y'all really need to stop watching Fox News and believe what they broadcast on TV. Get out and mingle with "black" folks and you will clearly see why they vote democratically.

You make it sound so mysterious, hidden, secretive like belonging to a separatist country club.

Is that what it is? A country club? Because, for a white person here in Baton Rouge to just strike out in the black neighborhoods to gain understanding as you say without bearing gifts for everybody on the block is pretty much a death wish unless you have police escort.

Really dude? "Get out and mingle with black folk"

Give me a fricking break.

Not nearly as many people watch FOX as you seem to think.

And that has nothing to do with Jews voting 90% for LBJ & 90% for FDR(Black support for Democrats wasn't that high). Nor does it explain why Jews reliably vote around 80% Democrat today.

You guys are spewing Fox's nonsense about Blacks & Hispanics wanting 'gifts', but 'name the minority'seems to not extend to Jews?

For once I would like to hear O'Reilly, Limbaugh, Tigerdroppings explain why Jews are the most reliable Democratic voting block historically? And with such insulting language.

The conversation gets way less insulting when it's Jews & not Blacks or Hispanics

That's why it's even more rewarding to KNOW that Blacks especially, & Hispanics, are the reason Obama & Dems win Key states like Florida,Virginia, Ohio,Pennsylvania,etc.......

With foolish bigotry like here & the GOP politicians it will only keep pushing Hispanics & Blacks away.

The Jewish vote stays Democrat as well no matter how much the Right Wing goes out of it's way not to offend them with 'free stuff', 'gifts' , 'non American values',etc..........insults like they do with other minorities.

re: How did Republicans lose African-Americans?

It is your opinion.

It is not an opinion that LBJ championed the 1964 CRA and Goldwater opposed it. I understand why Goldwater opposed it, and I believe it had nothing to do with racism, based on his history as a principled libertarian and a supporter of previous civil rights legislation, but the fact is that he opposed the 1964 CRA, and it caused a big swing in the Black vote in the 1964 election. Also, note that later on Goldwater said that he made a mistake by voting against it.

Before he died, even William F. Buckley admitted that he had been wrong to oppose civil rights, believeing that the country could evolve its way out of Jim Crow without federal intervention. He said he had come to believe that the nation would have never evolved its way out of Jim Crow without federal intervention, and the 1964 CRA and the 1965 VRA were necessary. Here's how George Will put it: George Will on the 1964 Civil Rights Bill

African-Americans, as a majority, seem to have lost themselves...things that are thought to be strengths, are slipping away - family, religion, conservative views.

Liberal Progressives are defining African-Americans and dictating to them what they do, how they are supposed to act, and it's detrimental to a high percentage.

FIFY but certainly agree.

Being opposed to the CRA of 1964 does not mean you are opposed to Civil Rights. You seem to admit that in what you continued to write but you can't quite bring yourself to admit it.

quote:

Blacks weren't going to vote for Goldwater over LBJ even if he had cast that one vote differently.
How many pictures or dead Kennedy's and LBJ were distributed in the Black Community how many for Republican Senators that were for the CRA of 1964?
Does your daddy agree with that load of crap?

quote:

Before he died, even William F. Buckley admitted that he had been wrong to oppose civil rights, believeing that the country could evolve its way out of Jim Crow without federal intervention.

Did he say Civil Rights or specific legislation? There is a difference.

And I doubt anyone believes we would still be in Jim Crow era without the CRA of 64 or the 65 VRA.

Do you believe your people have reached the equality you desire? What has stood in the way of success for the past three generations under the great society? How many more generations till your definition of equality is achieved? How many more trillions, how many more racially motivated laws will be required. Is there light at the end of the tunnel?

I agree.

I have no problem admitting it. In my previous posts I pointed out that Goldwater's opposition wasn't racially motivated, and that he voted for the 1957 CRA, the 1960 CRA and the 1965 VRA. What more do you want me to say?
quote:

Blacks weren't going to vote for Goldwater over LBJ even if he had cast that one vote differently.

LBJ might have still carried the Black vote in 1964, but he wouldn't have gotten over 90%. Nixon got 32% of the Black vote in 1960 despite the fact that MLK's father was campaigning against him.

What are you talking about? The 1964 CRA was passed with bipartisan support. Black folks knew the difference between Republicans, Democrats and Dixiecrats. I've never even heard anyone in my family mention anything about pictures being distributed, so you'll have to fill me in.

quote:

Did he say Civil Rights or specific legislation? There is a difference.

I'll look for the exact quote later.

In 1964, the biggest obstacle for Blacks was systematic racism. Today, the biggest obstacle for Blacks at the lower end of the socio-economic spectrum are themselves.

If that is the problem why is the VRA of 1965 still necessary as you often cliam?

In your opinion:

What percentage of blacks are at the lower end of the socio-economic spectrum?

How is that spectrum defined?

Why do these less enlightened blacks do this to themselves?

How are these less fortunate blacks suppose to find jobs when we have probably a real rate of 15% unemployment and most of those unemployed have real job skills?

*******
Is it possible the problem is not racism as many on the left claim and not one of personal responsibility and work ethic as many on the right claim?

I don't understand the connection between the two things. I think the necessity for the VRA is self-evident, even moreso after this most recent election.

I don't know those answers and I don't have any hard defintions to give you. What percentage of Whites do you feel fall in this category and how would you define them?

re: How did Republicans lose African-Americans?

You brought the VRA65 up when you accused Goldwater of being against civil rights, you further stated de jure racism is not a problem (reason for VRA65), and the problem is with the poor blacks themselves. If that is the problem why do we need the VRA 65?

quote:

What percentage of Whites do you feel fall in this category and how would you define them?

11.8% before Obama 17.3 today. Unable to function in society without government assistance, not merely a their lot being improved by some program but at the mercy of government for survival.

quote:

These all sound like rhetorical questions. State your point.

They were obvioulsy not rhetorical, I am interested in an answer. I am interested in your opinions. The point, is I am trying to understand how you see the problem. I generalized about the two common positions and I think both are false. Interested in how you see this problem of assimilation into society by the dysfunctional masses.

Perception is reality idiot. If the man is voting against legislation that Blacks desired I doubt if they gave a damn WHY Goldwater voted against it.

Doubt whether Blacks cared WHY Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation or the 13 Amendment.

Opposition of the Civil Rights Act by prominent GOP leaders & passage of the Civil Rights by a Northern Democratic House/Senate, signature of Democratic President,etc......basically put a nail in the GOP coffin when it comes to Blacks.(Hispanics are being alienated now) Couple this with the GOP Southern StrAtegy & it alienated them even further.

At least Goldwater was man enough to admit he was wrong.

Can't say anything that positive about your manhood.

You should stick to your area of expertise(Jews) perhaps? You seem to know more about them & no one can explain why Right Wing media calls them out for being 'leeches'.
