Movies you used to love that now make you cringe

Just got done rewatching "The Mummy Returns" and what a pile of shite that film was. Unfortunately I remember saying when I was younger that it was in my Top 5 films ever. Fortunately later that year I saw Lord of the Rings, which changed my opinion on film forever and quickly squashed my bad taste in film. Here are a few others on the top of my head:
The Phantom Menace
Flubber
Pearl Harbor
Mission Impossible II
Twister
Batman and Robin
Planet of the Apes remake (2001 was a shite year for my taste until the end)
What are some of yours?

Agreed on Mummy Returns. I remember watching it in theaters and thought it was awesome. Catching it here and there over the years on TV, it's just too cartoony and kinda dumb. I still like it, but some of the scenes make me cringe a little.
Also agree on Twister, although I still think it's a good movie, but some of the parts are just overly stupid (like driving through a house, "We got Ca-ows," leather belts vs. F5 twisters, etc.).

Its really the end when they're in the middle of the twister that really gets to me... that and they treat the tornados as if they're fricking Jaws.

When I was a kid I thought Xanadu was the greatest film of all time.

How on earth is it possible to love this film?

I didn't love it, I just remember not thinking it was not a piece of campy shite. I honestly think I liked the Mr. Freeze Pop Tart (which I will stand by and say kicked 10 acres of arse) more than the film and action figures themselves, so at least something positive happened out of the film.

The Mummy Returns and Pearl Harbor. Saw both of them in theaters back in 2001. When I watched them again on VHS later that year I was like, "What the hell was I thinking liking these two movies?!"

Seems like you and I both had our revelation in film that year. I really think "The Lord of the Rings" is going to be the catalyst for the next generation of film makers, similarly to how Star Wars was the current generation of big film makers.

Top Gun. Was 8 when it came out and saw it about a dozen times. Every time I watch it now I just laugh at the dialogue.

I've always liked Pearl. I still liek Twister. It came on TV a couple of months ago and I made the kids watch it.
I defended Transformers 2 at first and I can't even watch it now. And I thought Avatar should have won over Hurt Locker (which I still think was a steaming pile of shite with some good actors). Avatar sucks also.

lordy, can't imagine how bad this is now
I'd say 90% of the movies I liked in the 80's and early 90's are almost unwatchable now
