You mean for 220 years this country developed itself into the world's greatest Superpower with no debt but all of a sudden we need to spend 17 trillion beyond our means over 20 years..... Explain please.
Why isn't that you only go back 20 years, why do you not include the 80s when the first big post war post war increase occurred? I have included some numbers for you. The first column is the years, the second is the debt as a percent of GDP at the end of the term, and the third is increase or decrease as a percentage of GDP 1945–1949 93.10% -24.40% 1949–1953 71.40% -21.70% 1953–1957 60.40% -11.00% 1957–1961 55.20% -5.20% 1961–1965 46.90% -8.30% 1965–1969 38.60% -8.30% 1969–1973 35.60% -3.00% 1973–1977 35.80% 0.20% 1977–1981 32.50% -3.30% 1981–1985 43.80% 11.30% 1985–1989 53.10% 9.30% 1989–1993 66.10% 13.00% 1993–1997 65.40% -0.70% 1997–2001 56.40% -9.00% 2001–2005 63.50% 7.10% 2005–2009 84.20% 18.20% 2009–2011 99.60% 10.30% I can't help but noticing the democrats seemed to have done better then the republicans. Even the massive increases under Obama as a percentage of GDP were less then what Bush did my the same measure his second term. Just by going off the data since Ike left office, Nixon was the only Republican to reduce the debt While 4 democratic administrations did so.

part of a balanced approach in trying to get a handle on the federal deficit. It really hasn't been a secret.

intellectually dishonest to talk about debt to gdp %s in regards to administrations without mentioning controlling party of the house. the house, after all, controls the purse strings.

Did you go to a public school. Taxes paid for that and now students have to pay more because schools aren't getting as much money from the government. Did you have a work study job? According to Jeff Sessions work study falls under a welfare program.

Well exactly. If the debt and deficit were so important to the Dems you would think that they would be fighting to cut spending too. But no, that are not.
this is too easy. Do you remember that 716 billion dollar cut to medicare that Romney complained about? Oh wait somehow that isn't considered a cut democrats proposed, because I don't know (insert paranoid right wing fantasy here)

Many republicans have owned up to the shortcomings of Bush. He is the reason many are independents now. You folks defend Obama like it's a cult.

Both public and private.

As much? What does that mean exactly. I pay a shite load in property taxes and most of that money is allocated to public education. It is more than what it would take to send one of my kids to a private school here in GA.
quote:
Did you have a work study job?
Yep. I worked in the soil microbiology lab in the ag department. It was a pretty fun job...I learned a lot.
quote:

Then it's welfare. Who cares. That is not the point. The point is why do the Democrats need MORE tax dollars? When does it end? Why not get it over with and tax us 100% and distribute the money equally to everyone. That's the end game, right?
