re: LSU - fatigue and lack of motivation

a meandering season with limited possibilities.
Very good description of the real reality of the LSU football season, 2012. Didn't start out that way, but quickly spiraled down into futility in terms of the pursuit of the MNC. Injuries. Offensive play calls from hell. Coaching issues. Team discipline issues. Now a tired Defense? Kind of like trying to pick up a sand castle in one single piece.

And then just two weeks ago, we gave Bama yet another gift...

what a spoiled bunch of babies we've become, do you have any idea of how hard it is to be as good as we are, and sustain it for this length of time?

Spoiled? You sound either clueless or else like somebody who is ok with underachievement. Do you have any idea what it means to be as "good as we are" as you say, and yet see other teams with lesser talent ranked ahead of us, because we did not play up to our potential? What part of "futility" do you not understand?

Really good, well coached teams typically don't have this problem.

put the crack pipe down and step away from it, rankings v. talent don't mean shite, all political until you get on the field, underachievers? don't ever go back to crack, it doesn't suit you, what would you have us do, play UA 11 times a year? i understand futility, it's trying to see any sense of reason or sanity on the rant

Good. Then you understand why your satisfaction with underachievement is illogical and inconsistent. You said...
quote:

Well, LSU got on the field with Florida and Alabama, but underachieved (if all that talent you and others tout so loudly and often is real). Would you let me know the result in both cases? Since I believe LSU had no talent deficiency in either game versus UF or UA, then the only logical conclusion I can come to is somebody on the LSU side underachieved. You must think both teams are better than LSU. Oh, but now they are ranked higher than LSU? What does that mean in terms of your previously quoted statement above?

you answered your own questions, they got on the field and duked it out, (while you were arm chair qb'ing) and the best team won, on those given days

Every year under Les that we're out of the SEC or national championship race, the team(especially defense) plays flat the rest of the way and sometimes drops a game. Look at 08, 09, 10.

You do know that the west is still up for grabs rt? So the secc is not out of the picture and your argument is stupid. Same for 2010, and we dropped a game to a very good arkansas team and lost early to the national champions.

Do you even remember your original statement?
quote:

do you have any idea of how hard it is to be as good as we are, and sustain it for this length of time?
So tell us, how hard is it to be as good as LSU is, and yet not play up to potential in key games? It again sounds as if you're making a defense for underachieving at LSU's level of talent, because as you assert, "it's hard to be as good as LSU is and sustain it for this length of time." I think it's hard to be as good as LSU is and yet play as if we aren't all that good. Is it by coaching design that we don't? Or is it because of some kind of systemic underachievement?

Unless, of course, LSU really isn't all that good (which I don't believe is true).

I'm sorry, but it seems like you're trying to argue that LSU played it's best and lost. Or else that LSU isn't all that good and lost. But When you try to say...
quote:

you answered your own questions, they got on the field and duked it out, (while you were arm chair qb'ing) and the best team won, on those given days

I've got to totally reject your defeatist notion that the best team won on those given days versus UF and UA. LSU totally dominated the entire second half, but then gave the game away to Alabama in the last 40 seconds. And versus Florida, well LSU just plain underachieved.

So again the word "futility" surfaces in my mind. Obviously it makes no sense in yours. You'd rather blame fellow ranters for having differing points of view than yourself, call names, or babble inanely along about crack pipes and armchair qb'ing. Well have it at all you want. The record speaks for itself.

How is this potential measured? You come up with it? we lost 23 scholarship players, name one team in the top 10 that had to do that? USC lacks depth like we do yet they lost 4 times, 4 fricking games for the preseason #1 team. Yet LSU doesnt play up to its potential? give me a fricking break.

Oh and really its been the defense that let us down this year, you know the one coached by the guy that saved les' job.

You want to know why the oline has stepped it up? Les Miles has been coachinng them. In practice stud calls the plays from a table in the endzone, krag works with the qbs and miles the oline.

Funny. You flame people, call them crack heads or something, then you say "settle down" like all you've been doing here is singing in the little boy's choir or something. Remember what you said:
quote:

put the crack pipe down and step away from it
Funny way of being on the same side, bro.

What bothers me is Ole Miss had such a limited roster. Hugh Freeze was playing with a two-thirds roster and he out coached Miles with one hand tied behind his back. What will this coach do with a full roster? Hopefully he doesn't end up at another SEC school with more resources.

Ole miss is always a motivational issue for us, and the entire season for them. Bad combo.

slight exaggeration, but pretty much the truth. I make no excuses for yesterday because ole miss really isn't as bad as many LSU fans want them to be. just because their dline is undersized doesn't mean they can't be effective. they gave two games away early to atm and vandy and they showed me that bama could be had. they have recruited well and their qb's are both tough, gritty kids. considering how much emphasis LSU puts on winning natchams I think it is remarkable that our kids responded so well to the challenge ole miss delivered. in the same situation as yesterday, many teams would have folded...our squad chose not to. great job staff/kids/and the fans in Tiger Stadium. let's finish strong in fayetteville.

hump the hogs.

When being ranked 7th in the nation and possibly higher in the BCS is considered "underachievement"- our fan base has become delusional.

you are an idiot....in case you haven't noticed the other teams we play are very talented but you with you omnipotence have decided that when we fail or don't win by five-oh it is because we underachieved while giving no credit to the talent and motivation of those we face every week. clueless fricks like you, who never played a down in you useless fricking life, just don't get the fact that we get every teams best shot...whether it's Towson, bama or ole fricking miss. we are LSU, and we are a season maker for many, a hated rival for some and just about the only thing blocking a yearly natcham run for the gumps.

what part of gutless ignorance don't you get? jstfu and leave the heavy lifting for those with the strength and the balls to understand what it takes to get the job done. frick you.

Agreed. The expectations are unreal. The loss of the 23 players; many starters. The injuries, the adjustments on the line, the loss of Hurst, the insertion of two freshman on the right side on the oline and the insertion of Josh D with a knee that is glued together. Some would call these excuses;I call it reality. Take a look at USCw. 4 losses and hasn't played a schedule nearly as strong as ours. All those 5 stars. It is amazing what this team and its coaches have achieved.

Alabama 10-1 after next week 11-1 Georgia 10-1 after next week 11-1 Florida 10-1 after next week hopefully 11-1 LSU 9-2 after next week 10-2 Tex A&M 9-2 after next week 10-2 USCe 9-2 after next week 10-2 No other Conference has anything like this whatsoever. The SEC beats each other up durig the season and it takes the legs out from under the players. That is why during Bowl time with rest the SEC shows why it is dominate.

That list of records is just sick. Every year the SEC gets 10 bowl invites and wins roughly 60% or better, but this year is really exceptional and the conference will have its best bowl record ever.
