Once the knee touched the ground, it was considered a dead ball foul. Nothing wrong with Loston trying to return. Player trying to defend - bad hut though. Correct call on penalty.

Helmet to helmet. That guy was groggy for a play or two.

but it was in the course of a normal block, looked completely incidental to me.

After Loston intercepted, he ran it back. Wallace got in the way and got hit in the chops by a defender (was it Reid?). Anyways, they said that Loston's knee was down, and, therefore, the helmet to helmet contact was a dead ball foul. So, they assessed that penalty after the spot where Loston's knee went down.

Arguing just to be argumentative? What about sportsmanship - Loston trying to act as if his knee did not touch ground. I like Loston's play. Unfortunate penalty though.

Right call. LSU player treated the QB like any defender. Unfortunately, it ended up being helmet to helmet.
Yep. They showed it all. I hated it, at the time, but clear evidence on TV that the refs got it all right, except that they had to go to replay for the knee being down.

They did. Think it was 28. Gary Danielson said that it could be concussion.

But it wasn't. If the refs were competent, it would have never happened. It happened in the course of the play. You can't just change the definition of what happened.

note that the calls were made by the Head Linesman of this crew, Gary Jayroe, who is from Arkansas

Exactly as it happened.

it looked like Wallace actually led with his helmet more than Mills did.
That's wishful thinking.

It was basically like any other block, it certainly wasn't a cheap shot or away from the play.
This part is true. Didn't look like the DB was trying to take the QB out.

I get the point you're trying to make, but the correct call was made and enforced.

no, maybe clouded memory from the whiskey though...however on the replay it looked like Wallace lunged with his upper body right before contact.

While we're asking ref questions. In the second half Mett was clearly speared in his ribs under his arm, when he was sacked. It was when he left the game. If that was leading with the helment. WTF was up with the no call on that.

It didn't look like it hit hard, seems like an easy mistake to not notice the knee-to-ground in the heat of the moment. Besides, that's the ref's responsibility, not his. If he thought it hit the ground but actually hit another player, you'd be mocking him for not running.

In the stadium, it sounded like they changed it to a dead ball foul when it clearly happened in the course of the play.
They did. It was initially a blocking foul where the player blocked Wallace above the shoulders but after Loston was called down at t he 25 (he was clearly down i'm not sure how the refs didn't catch it during the play) they changed it to a dead ball, personal foul.

Correct call was made. However the rule should be adjusted so that the double penalization cannot happen. If a penalty occurs during live play during a play which is later ruled to have ended before the penalty occured, the other team should have 2 options: 1. Accept penalty - penalty is assesed from the end of the return regardless of results of box review. 2. Decline penalty - play is dead according to results of box review. No penalty is assesed. I know the refs made the right call, but in this case the rule books are screwed.

Refs made the right call on Loston's INT. The Old Piss fans are outraged about the roughing the passer call on the last drive on Mett. Cuts both ways.

It was a dead ball foul since the play was deemed over when the knee touched. It's the same as the Copeland personal foul after the play against Alabama and was the right call. Also, quit whining because the referee called it a "block above the helmet"... he corrected it in his next breath. I guess you feel that because he "misspoke" that is the way the call should be made. So in your own dumb-ass logic, whenever the ref points the wrong way on a turnover, we should just let that team have the ball. It's the first call that counts, right? Screw making the right call, you have to abide by the first call. Most reasonable people can understand that, but the again this is the rant.

Other teams don't get personal fouls when they play LSU. One thing that bugs me about Miles is that he lets it happen. I really wish he would get in the refs face especially when it comes to the safety of our QB. It looked like there were a few leading with the helmet hits. But if the D knows they can get away with it, they will keep doing it. Refs need to protect QB's, IMO. ETA: yes I know we did get a call eventually. But Mett got seriously beat up before they stepped in.

No you fricking tard. I feel like since he misspoke I needed some clarification on the issue since whoever runs the replays in Tiger Stadium didn't run on e for that play, or the other one I had a question about. If you're going to spout off about dumb-ass logic in a thread, make sure you have enough reading comprehension skills to grasp what the thread is about in the first place.
