Yeah, my dad rented one to find a metal surveying rod that was lost. After we found the surveying rod, we tried to find my mom's engagement ring that had been lost in the yard almost 30 years ago. We were unsuccessful in that attempt. The most we found other than the survey rod were some nails and several bricks.
