my aunt used to tell us that if you use a tampon, you are losing your virginity. Great way to scare 13-14 year olds. At 16 (when I started), I was like frick these diapers

My mother used to say the same thing. Finally, when I was in the 7th grade trying out for cheerleader for the first time, I told her I didn't care about being a virgin anymore; that there was no way I was wearing a pad during tryouts. All she heard was the not caring about being a virgin part. I thought she was going to send me to a convent & we aren't Catholic.

You got your first period at 16?!? Not sure what the norm is nowadays but I hear a lot of talk on the news about how girls are starting to hit puberty earlier and earlier all the time, like 8 & 9 years old sometimes even earlier.

My little girl is 4 now so I got about 4 - 6 years before I have to live with a girl going into puberty. I've never been around a girl of that age going through that but have heard it can be hell on a dad.
