FYI, that extra grill is gone...

Gasket is for sure the biggest gripe with BGE. I have a 1000 degree nomax I'm going to replace mine with soon. At least BGE sent it to me for free.

The gasket on the Grill Dome was wrinkled and very thin, almost paper thin. It was very noticeable to me.
It's much better quality than the stock BGE.
I've seen them in person and I can't say that I agree with this.

Interesting. They don't seem to have near the gasket issues of BGE.
THIS.
I don't own a GD yet either, but I've been researching for months on all the pros/cons.

That extra one may be available (buddy may back out), still in the crate in the back of my truck in Laffy. Post your email address and I'll let you know.

Kind of on topic but has anyone ordered a kamado type grill online, i.e. BBQguys.com?
They have good prices, free shipping, and I assume is tax free?
I assume they would deliver it via a 18-wheeler/freight?

quote:I don't think it's tax free. The bbqguys.com website is the same as the Shopper's Choice showroom in BR. You need to stop in when you get a chance to see everything side by side. It's fantastic. They don't sell BGE, but they have one there to compare to everything else.

I researched and researched for months in 2011 and finally bought the grill dome in August 2011 because I had determined that it was the best quality...best ceramic, best components, best hinge, etc.
I cook on it 3-4 times per week every week. Low and slow and searing at 1000 degrees. I could not be happier. Not a single problem. Gasket is in perfect shape.
I have read this thread and really have no idea what the GD bashers are talking about...it's like a bizarro world.
