re: How certain are you that Mett doesn't go pro after this year?

Matt Flynn had a much better year and barely got drafted as a seventh round pick. Fortunately for him he beat the odds and finally got paid this offseason. If Mett isn't a first round pick he will come back. And there is no way in hell he's a first round pick

I think too many people get caught up in thinking that it's always in a players best interest to come back to work his way up from being a middle round pick to a POSSIBLE 1st round pick.
It of course would be in OUR best interest if Mett comes back next year, especially considering his spotty performance this year. Pro scouts however, can be easily swayed by a players potential instead of his actual production. I've already seen some projections that have him in the top 5 qb's for the 2014 draft. DO you really think the pro's believe that playing one more year of college football prepares you quicker for the pro game? 4 preseason games will make you a better pro than 3 years of playing college games. The only real value playing football in college has for a future pro is it helps pro scouts make their evaluations.
How much has Tyler Wilson helped himself by coming back this year? Jevan Snead anyone? If it is your goal to be a professional football player, then you should go do it as soon as you can. If he was my son that is what I would tell him.
Also remember that Mett didn't grow up dreaming of playing for LSU, he was a bulldog all the way and only circumstances lead him here. I don't know the kid but given the situation I wouldn't think he has some overwhelming affinity for staying at LSU over starting to live out his dream of playing in the NFL.

Matt Flynn doesn't have half the arm of Mett and is much shorter.
Mett is a prototypical NFL QB in terms of size and arm strength.
He would be drafted after a combine this year. Not very highly, but he would be drafted.
Obviously he should come back however as he could be a VERY high pick next year will a full stellar season under his belt.
