i think if someone can tame the beast that is jermaine jones and get him to tone it down one notch in the game (ie not bulldozing into the opponents third on a semi regular basis) he could be very valuable. i think he feels he needs to do too much in the usmnt and that makes him play worse. with schalke he's far from the best midfielder and he plays that role pretty well. he's aging, so they brought in roman neustadter in the summer to be his replacement/help with depth. it seems he's rather inconsistent, but he does put in hard work- albeit sometimes a little too hard

didnt they say he woulda been here if not for the galaxy's playoff shite? said he should be on the gold cup roster.
Jurgen didn't call up anyone other than Rimando still in the MLS playoffs a week ago.
No Eddie Johnson, Graham Zusi, Landon Donovan, Omar Gonzalez, Kyle Beckerman, ect.
Jurgen said he might have two rosters next summer, a b team gold cup roster and a roster for WQC. If Gonzo doesn't make the WCQ roster we better hope George John or Tim Ream steps up.

Jozy needs to be called up consistently, and pair him with some mids that can him the ball

I agree completely. I like Herc, but we need Jozy to be our target forward. We've gotta give him pt and service. He's been starved lately and that's mostly a result of the 3 dmid setup Jurgen has been running.

Disagree, jozy has proven that he is better running at a defense rather than with his back to the ball, I like Boyd as the hold up and jozy making runs off him

- Gatt made some decent runs but when it was his time to face up and take on guys he seemed out of his league. Zusi should not be worried about this guy
- Agree that either Jones or Williams should be on the field but not both. Williams had his worst game for us. Jones needs to stop pushing forward. He gives the ball away almost every time and then we are open for the counter as he lies on the ground and stares at the ref
- Too many bad passes from the back. No clue what that was all about
- Is it just me or did Johnson look hesitant to cross with his left? Seems like every time he came down the wing he would cut back in and look to cross with his right
- Jozy played ok in my mind. I think he's pressing really hard. His first touch on a handful of balls left a lot to be desired. Boyd showed better touch for his holdup play in his short time on the field
- Michael Bradley is the fricking man
- Ditto for Howard
- In the end we got a result with a hodgepodge lineup so to speak. We need to solidify our midfield lineup and get them playing together on a regular basis.

Jones has pretty much always made those runs forward, and at some point I think you have to assume that Jurgen is fine with it. He's never really seemed to want to play Jones as that disciplined, deep-lying defensive/holding midfielder. I don't think he trusts him in that role. Or else he think he has more to offer in a freer role.
Beckerman's played that role, Edu, Williams, but Jones pretty much always has been more box to box.
