Offense:
Mett and the online will be scary. WRs are maturing nicely and RB, well, they're ok...lol.

Defense:
LBs will be the new strength. DL will be a ?, but serviceable at a minimum and I expect a surprise. DBs will be damn good.

Considering aTm new successes and the likelihood they are not a fluke, I see Les ramping up the off season ala Oregon preps. This will cater to TCU early in the season and have the team prepared for the long haul.

Just some early morning unoriginal thoughts....

Because bowl forecast discussions are fricked out now........and I like Les, so dont feel like criticizing.

Agreed.

Much of what was said about the O could have been said after '11.

What we've seen from Mett the last two weeks is what we exepcted from game 1 (or way earlier in the season). Although our RBs from '11 are very good none of them had the 'wow' factor. Jeremy Hill has it.

The X factors for next year are who leaves early and who stays.

I agree.

If some of those JRs on defense dont return, I'm not sure where our leadership is going to come from. Every single leader on defense is a JR and possible NFL casualty except maybe Freak. We need some of those guys back for production and leadership as well.

truth....this is very important to me cause we need to change the culture with LSU football. it' past time to move away from a program that has to rely on defense and special teams. by my eyes, Mett's qb IQ and maturity level are light years ahead of what he was just two short months ago. I may get ripped for this, but I like our chances with Mett better than atm's chances with 'jhonny foosball'. they are both relatively young in cfb years but Mett has a Dan Marino quality about him while 'flash' is more like Fran Tarkington and between those two I know who I would take. just sayn.

finish fricking strong!

I'm hoping we get a couple of surprise players who stay for another year.

I wish this annual prediction would turn out true.

we tend to do a bit too much hand-wringing over guys stepping into leadership roles IMO. it'd no doubt hurt if all the Jrs. that are reasonable draft prospects left, but we'd still have Barrow, Loston, and Freak around. and the Jalens and Ronnie Martin will have had a good yr of experience under their belts. I think we'd be ok.

really hoping that Minter doesn't leave though.

Our Oline has been overrated for years. The real strength of our Oline has been our DLine! They keep giving the ball back, and the opposing defense eventually crumbles. But next year should be different. We return a serviceable center in Porter. But the guards and tackles are all elite and experienced. Collins and Turner at guard and Faulk and Alexander at tackle could give LSU the best line in the country if they stay healthy. They are all powerful and athletic. We have good depth as well.

considering the recent youth explosion (Turner and Vadal) as well as Faulk returning, results point to it rather than coach speak. just sayin.

"I wish this annual prediction would turn out true."

It has turned out to be true this year just not in any way, shape, or form that I would have imagined. No Faulk, no Hurst, no Lonergan, but now that this line has come together (which took a few weeks), we are looking great and pass protection has improved immensely.
