I have no prob with a 9mm. I do have a prob carrying something bulky or heavy on me all the time so I won't do any good if I'm not packing. Im ignorant to these small guns. Can you recommend anything similair in size or weight in a bigger caliber I can look at? TIA

This simple division here is the difference between IWB carry and pocket carry.
Some people can pocket carry a subcompact 9mm, but generally, it's less comfortable. But, when sticking a subcompact single-stack 9mm in your waistband, you will immediately forget about it.
I think for the price, the best carry 9mms are the Kahr CM9, which I own, and the S&W M&P Shield which a couple of my friends own. I haven't seen either one fail on a range visit, and I've shot my Kahr probably somewhere between 4-5k times.
The best advice I have for you is to go to the store and hold all of these. It will give you a real idea as to how small they are.
