TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama coach Nick Saban calls it "the Bluegrass Miracle phenomenon."

The fourth-ranked Crimson Tide plays poorly in one game but survives a desperation scenario and so no warning bells go off on the team that there might be problems.

"The last two games, I'd put both those in the same category," Saban said on Monday. "We didn't play as well as a team. You all (reporters) don't think so because we won one and we lost the other one. If we'd have won this one, you wouldn't have been concerned now either. I was concerned then.

"You all live in the results world out there. We kind of live in the process world. It's hard to get people to respond. It's kind of a Bluegrass Miracle phenomenon. You play bad, you win the game. Then the next week you get your (butt) kicked because nobody responded to playing bad because you won. You won the Bluegrass Miracle."

This time the Tide (9-1) beat No. 8 LSU on a last-minute touchdown then followed it up by digging an early 20-point hole and losing to No. 9 Texas A&M.

Ten years earlier (minus one day), Saban's LSU team survived to beat Kentucky on a last-play, 74-yard Hail Mary pass from Marcus Randall to Michael Clayton that became known as the Bluegrass Miracle.

The Tigers were pounded 31-0 by Alabama a week later.

I feel that this is the same problem with Les Miles' entire tenure here. We always get by with a W and hardly ever learn from our mistakes. We don't sit down and address problem areas until after the season is over...I do see that things are changing with the offense but too many other instances of stubbornness....clock mgmt, sticking with crappy qb, sticking with crappy def. coordinators, etc.

Wow. So, he is still blaming the players for the 31-0 Alabama beatdown. He always blames the players.

So pre-TigerDroppings, the biggest LSU message board was Tiger's Lair. Tiger's Lair. A member on Tiger's Lair posted a "transcribed locker room speech" of Coach Saban to the team, post Bluegrass Miracle Game.

The speech was pretty much spot on in terms of Sabinisms (saying aiite a lot, and even a part where he yells at Jordy to get out of the locker room - it was the feeling that Saban hated Jordy).

The Bama game was the week after the Bluegrass Miracle Game and was essentially for the SEC-West crown. Speech content was about Alabama and how Saban couldn't stand Alabama, from their stupid A logo, to the numbers on the sides of their helmets.

People thought it was real, b/c of how authentic it sounded. Then it was outed as just a made up story near the tail end of the week leading up to the Bama game. The stupid gumps were blasting Saban for the speech even after it was revealed it was fake.

Anyways, after the beatdown Bama gave us, Coach Franchione and Saban met at midfield. Someone forgot to give the memo to Franchione letting him know the speech was fake. He sticks his finger in Saban's chest a few times giving him a few choice words.

Saban was like wtf? In the end, the poster of the fake locker room story ended up apologzing to Saban.

After 10 years...I finally get Saban.

And I agree with him 100 percent.

But let's not forget...LSU won the BCSNC the next year.
