The upside of going to a D1 program, even for 1 year, versus trying to go pro out of JUCO is enormous. The highest I can imagine a JUCO receiver being drafted is 6th-7th round, more realistically you'd have to make it as an UDFA. Going to college for just 1 year can make the same prospect a 1st round pick, like Cordarelle Patterson. I'm sure there are others who've made it straight JUCO but Joe Horn is the only one I can think of off the top of my head.

Anyway he clearly wants to be a Tiger so I am pulling for him.

Me too I totally agree with all that. But if he doesnt qualify, he might just have to go pro. If your good enough it doesnt matter where you play. It helps you get recognition if your at a major program, but if your good enough it doesnt matter where you play. NFL people dont care where you go to college. If your good enough they will take a chance on you in the NFL. Colston played at Hofstra, and they don't even have a football team anymore. And Williams is def good enough to do it. There are a lot of small school guys all over the NFL. More than you think. Trust me I want this kid here. Been keeping up with him since ESJ days.
