Simon is leaving too. Reuben Randle knew he wasn't a first rounder either but left. The allure of the league is great and some of these guys think they will go higher than they will. In my judgment, Reid, Simon, Logan and Minter will all benefit from an extra year in Baton Rouge. But all four will declare for the draft.

The loss of those four plus Montgomery, Mingo, and the seniors will be very impact full on our defense. Hopefully we aren't 2008 bad next year on defense. But we could be.

2012 was the year. As we have seen, Bama is not as good as 2011. Bama is still probably the best team (I think K State is this year's Okie State Nd i am not impressed with Notte Dame talent wise outside of a few players). But our offense took more time to gel than was necessary and we lost to a team we should have beat (Florida) and lost a heartbreaker to Bama. Squandered opportunities.

2013 is shaping up to be a 3 or 4 loss season.

I might be mistaken but someone mentioned that he has a kid and might want to take home a pay check , however small it be.

Logan/Minter might stay.

meh... going by history , not worried.

The O is shaping up well and each year LSU loses 1st rounders in the secondary as well as DL players and yet there are backups ready to play. In addition the LB group is much better than before.

Not so fast, my friend!

While it appears we won't be able to rely as heavily on our defense next year, the offense is primed for a BIG season, possibly the best offense since Miles has been here. And Chief is going to have the D ready regardless of who is out there. He's shown us no reason to not have faith in him to pull together one heck of defense.

With all of that said, Bama, A&M, UF, and UGA could all be better next year as well...wow, that's one heck of a tough schedule to get through so 3-4 losses is certainly possible, but I really like our chances next year.

What? You're nuts. Our offense should come out the gates as good as its been the last two games instead of taking half a season to gell. While the defense might drop a little, it isn't going to fall off a cliff. And Jesus not every junior that could leave is going to. Depth in the front 4 is potentially worrisome, but there's a decent mix of experience in guys like Rasco, Allen, Freak etc and young talent. No it won't be as good as this year but that doesn't mean they are awful all of a sudden. We could be 2008 bad on defense? Seriously? That had as much to do with the co-coordinators as anything.

Not unless Chief leaves. And don't forget, the interceptions given up by LSU's offense in '08 contributed mightily to exposing the Tiger's lame defense.

What the frick dude.

Let me guess, after the Florida game you had LSU at 8-4 for this season among all the other negafreaks?

LSU is extremely young and guys are getting excellent playing time NOW.

You also need to realize what others are losing around the league. Bama is losing at least 3 starting O lineman. LSU with Mettenberger now with SEC experience behind him and possibly 2 crucial big time receiving threats on the way.. LSU with their fresh new line gelling already gaining experience.. That is LSU football. The line. Not to mention you get your starting LT back.
