OI was responding to you. You started the embargo bull shite. You said the midwest would be screwed if La seceded. I'm saying the US (and midwest), could screw La by not letting trade come down. If you think the idea that anyone can just turn anything off is stupid, then your original statement is stupid.
If no trade comes down, and none can go up, it severely reduces the amount of trade coming in this port. There are a lot more ports that are more accessible that nola to baton rouge, where ships won't have to travel up a fricking river. Not to mention, I guess La will have to dredge the river itself so the ships can get in. My point is, if we left, all the federal govt has to do is literally not allow trade. I guess the entire midwest could also secede and join La. otherwise, the cheapest way out will be rail or other rivers.
This is stupid though. I am not even sure why we are having this discussion.
